Kion Smith's Biography
Born on October 7, 1998, Kion Smith embarked on a journey leading him from humble beginnings to becoming a professional American football player. Today, he’s hailed as an offensive tackle for the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League (NFL). His story is one of persistence, determination, and unyielding drive to rise above setbacks and achieve his dream.
Kion’s love for football can be traced back to his years at Lumberton High School. Here, he dedicated dozens of grueling hours to master the sport as a high school football player. However, his dreams seemed to hit a roadblock when he was forced to sit out his entire senior season due to an injury. Still, Kion did not let this unfortunate occurrence hinder his aspirations.
Following high school, Kion made strides on Fayetteville State University’s football field. Throughout his collegiate career, he made significant contributions to the team, playing in a total of twenty games. However, similar to his high school days, his hustle was abruptly cut short. His senior season at Fayetteville was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Despite this hardship, Kion remained firm in his ambition to progress to the professional league’s grandeur. However, the journey was not straight-forward. As the 2021 NFL draft rolled around, Kion, unfortunately, went undrafted. Yet, hope was not lost for this resilient footballer.
Spotting his potential, the Atlanta Falcons offered him a contract. But, this opportunity came with its share of trials as Kion failed to make it to the final 53-man roster. This potential setback didn’t deter him but encouraged him to keep pushing.
Only days later, on September 6, 2021, Kion was offered a position in the Miami Dolphins’ practice squad, turning a setback into a breakthrough. Kion showed significant promise within the Dolphins’ ranks, leading to a reserve/future contract on January 11, 2022. However, his tenure with the Dolphins had its share of uncertainties, as he was waived on August 30, 2022, only to be re-signed to the practice squad.
Proving his worth once more, he signed yet another reserve/future contract on January 16, 2023. At every step, Kion proved his ability to overcome adversity and strive for success.
As he continued his tenure with the Dolphins, Kion again faced a career-altering challenge. On August 10, 2024, he suffered a significant injury, a torn ACL, during the preseason. Unfortunately, this injury led to him being placed on a season-ending injured reserve.
Kion Smith’s story is not just about football. It’s a narrative of resilience, determination, and the power of perseverance. From his early days in Lumberton High to his most recent contract with the Miami Dolphins, Kion has shown that the spirit to rise above setbacks defines success, making him a remarkable figure in the American football landscape.
