Khalil Mack's Biography

Khalil Delshon Mack was born on February 22, 1991. An American by nationality, Mack has made a name for himself in the world of professional football as a linebacker. He began his professional career with the Oakland Raiders and now plays for the Los Angeles Chargers in the National Football League (NFL).

Before his professional career, he attended Fort Pierce Westwood High School and honed his skills as a quarterback initially before shifting to a linebacker. Although he faced challenges, his basketball-playing career was cut short because of a patella tendon tear. However, with his coach’s encouragement and support, he refocused on football, which led to a scholarship from the State University of New York at Buffalo.

He achieved ceaseless success throughout his University life, where he wore the uniform number 46 to remind himself that he was under-appreciated and needed to work harder as the same score was given to him in a video game. He soon became renowned for his dominant performances, excelling in tackles, defensive playmaking, and forcing fumbles.

His University career concluded with him holding the all-time NCAA record for forced fumbles and being tied for career tackles for loss. Athletics Hall of Fame election was another feather in his cap, signaling his excellence in the sport.

Mack’s professional career kickstarted with a bang. In the 2014 NFL draft, he was picked fifth overall by the Oakland Raiders, becoming the highest-selected player in Buffalo’s history. Mack switched to number 52 in compliance with the NFL’s numbering rules.
