Juston Burris is a former NFL defensive back born on August 4, 1993. Listed at 6 feet and 210 pounds by the Carolina Panthers, he played cornerback at NC State before working primarily as a safety in the NFL. The Raleigh, North Carolina, product developed into an experienced college starter whose size, footwork and physical approach helped him compete in coverage.

The New York Jets selected Burris from NC State in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft with the 118th overall pick. He later played for the Cleveland Browns and Carolina Panthers, with a brief stop on the Oakland Raiders’ active roster in 2019. Cleveland teammates selected him as the Browns’ 2019 Ed Block Courage Award recipient, recognizing his courage, compassion, commitment and community involvement after he worked back from shoulder surgery.

Burris signed a two-year contract with Carolina on March 19, 2020, and agreed to return on a one-year deal on March 24, 2022. The Panthers released him during their initial roster reduction that August, brought him back on the practice squad and signed him to the active roster on October 5. His playing career ended after the 2022 season, and in 2023 he transitioned into personnel work as a Panthers scouting intern through the NFL’s Nunn-Wooten Scouting Fellowship program.
