Julian Stanford's Biography

Born on September 2, 1990, Julian Stanford is a professional American football player who plays in the position of a linebacker. Throughout his career, he has displayed outstanding talent and skill as he transitioned among several teams in the National Football League (NFL), contributing significantly to their successes on the field.

As a talented young athlete, Stanford chose to attend Wagner College to further his education while honing his skills in football. His dedication to the sport was evident as he performed impressively at the college level, garnering the attention of professional NFL teams. It was upon graduating from Wagner College that Stanford broke into the professional American football scene. Notably, he was signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent in 2012, marking the start of his NFL journey.

Stanford’s stint with the Jaguars was pivotal in introducing him to the competitive environment of the NFL. However, after a promising start, he was released by the team in the late summer of 2013. Being a resilient athlete, Stanford bounced back quickly, signing with the Detroit Lions at the very end of that year. His football journey with the Lions lasted for about two years before he was cut from the team in September 2015.

Undeterred, Julian began working out for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and managed to secure a position in their practice squad later that month. Despite being released shortly after, he made a short comeback to the practice squad, only to be waived once more. Undeterred by these challenges, Stanford continued to persist in his professional pursuit.

In December of that year brought about a significant shift in Stanford’s career as he was signed to the New York Jets’ practice squad. He soon became a staple in the Jets’ football strategy, as he was re-signed to the team in the early days of 2016. While he had a few releases and re-signings with the Jets, he eventually was waived by the team in December 2016 due to injury.

The following year saw a brief return of Stanford to the Jets, albeit for a short stint. Then, in March of 2018, he signed with the Buffalo Bills, marking a fresh chapter in his professional football career. In 2020, he became a free agent.

The next significant stage in his career was noted in August 2020 when he signed with the Carolina Panthers. The extended time he spent with the Panthers clearly showcased his value as a player, being a key component in their special team. He re-signed with the Panthers twice; once in May 2021 and then again in March 2022. But an injury in August caused him to be placed on the injured reserve list and later led to his release in October.

Stanford’s latest transition moves him to the Baltimore Ravens’ practice squad in October 2022. However, his stay was short-lived, and he was released in December of that year. Not one to be easily discouraged, he signed to the Detroit Lions practice squad, showcasing his constant determination to demonstrate his worth and talent as a linebacker in the competitive world of the NFL.
