Jaycee Horn's Biography

Jaycee Carrington Horn made his mark in the world of American professional football as a cornerback for the Carolina Panthers under the prestigious National Football League (NFL). Born on November 26, 1999, Horn’s connection with professional football can be traced back to his father, Joe Horn, who showcased his talents on the football field as a wide receiver in the NFL during the 1990s and 2000s. In fact, Jaycee’s passion for football was cultivated and nurtured within his football-loving family.

Horn spent the majority of his childhood in Alpharetta, Georgia, where he attended Alpharetta High School. He astoundingly tallied 44 tackles and five interceptions during his senior year. His extraordinary performances earned him a worthy spot in the 2018 U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

However, just like his father, Horn did not rest on his laurels and went on to pursue further glory in college football at the University of South Carolina. His remarkable performances during his freshman year in 2018 placed him on the sports radar. Out of the 11 games, Horn made his presence felt in 10 and recorded 45 tackles and two sacks alone. His accolades included being named freshman All-Southeastern Conference.

In the subsequent years, Horn consistently proved himself as an indispensable asset to his team. He started all 12 games during his sophomore year in 2019, contributing 40 tackles and delivering one sack. Horn returned to South Carolina the following year, continuing his reign as a starter in 2020.

However, Horn’s journey saw a slight diversion when the head coach, Will Muschamp, was dismissed on November 16, 2020. Opting out of the remainder of the season, Horn shifted his focus towards preparing himself for the 2021 NFL draft.

Horn’s commitment and relentless hard work were rewarded when he was selected as the eigth overall pick by the Carolina Panthers in the 2021 NFL draft. The Panthers, recognizing his stellar talent, signed him for a four-year rookie contract amounting to a staggering $21.1 million on June 15, 2021.

He made an impressive start in the NFL, recording his first-ever career interception off Jameis Winston against the New Orleans Saints in Week 2. However, in Week 3, during their match against the Houston Texans, Horn sustained a fractured foot, pushing him to the injured reserve list on September 27.

Despite a setback, Horn returned in 2022 as a starting cornerback for the Panthers. Although he suffered a broken wrist on December 25, 2022, which ended his season prematurely, he finished on a high with 53 tackles and leading his team with three interceptions and seven passes defensed through 13 starts.

In the 2023 season’s first week, Horn was once again challenged when he suffered a hamstring injury. He was placed on injured reserve on September 15, 2023, only to return stronger and fitter on December 2.

Carolina Panthers acknowledged Horn’s immense contribution and potential by picking up the fifth-year option on his contract on April 26, 2024. Football is in Horn’s lineage as he is also the brother of free agent Joe Horn Jr. In his personal life, he shares a loving relationship with WNBA player and South Carolina alum, Brea Beal.
