Jake Funk Bio
Jake Funk is a running back whose NFL career began when the Los Angeles Rams selected him in the seventh round of the 2021 NFL Draft, 233rd overall. Born January 11, 1998, he attended Damascus High School in Maryland. His high school honors included the 2015 Gatorade Maryland Player of the Year award and Washington Post All-Metro Offensive Player of the Year recognition.
Funk played college football at Maryland from 2016 through 2020. He contributed as a runner, receiver and special-teams player, earning Maryland’s Special Teams Player of the Year award in 2017. His college honors also included Academic All-Big Ten recognition and third-team All-Big Ten selection in 2020. When the Rams drafted him, they particularly valued his potential on special-teams coverage units.
He became a Super Bowl LVI champion with Los Angeles in February 2022. His subsequent career included practice-squad stops with New Orleans, Indianapolis, Miami and Baltimore. He signed with Detroit in January 2024 and was waived that August. Jacksonville added him to its practice squad on October 1, 2024, and announced his release on November 5, 2024.
