Herb Miller's Biography
Herb Miller III, a renowned American football cornerback, was born on November 11, 1997. Currently, he is a free agent. His exceptional football journey started at college, where he played football at Florida Atlantic, gradually nurturing his skills to be a professional player.
He was given an opportunity by the Kansas City Chiefs when he signed as an undrafted free agent on May 7, 2019, after impressing them during his tryout with the team. Regrettably, he was waived on August 31, 2019, during the final roster cuts, a common practice for NFL teams.
Despite the setback, Miller’s professional journey resumed when he was signed to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ practice squad on December 18, 2019. Subsequently, he was offered a reserve/futures contract by the Buccaneers on January 7, 2020. Despite being waived during the final roster cuts on September 5, 2020, he was immediately re-signed to the Buccaneers’ practice squad on the following day.
Proving his worth, he was elevated to the active roster on several occasions during the 2020 season. Some of these occasions were during the team’s matches against formidable teams like the Chiefs, Minnesota Vikings, Detroit Lions, and Atlanta Falcons. Each time, he reverted back to the practice squad after every game.
In a notable highlight of his career, Miller reaped a fruit of his football prowess in a 47-7 win against the Detroit Lions, where he accounted for his first career interception off a pass from Detroit’s quarterback, David Blough.
As a testament to his contributions, Miller was part of the Buccaneers’ roster for the team’s wild card game against the Washington Football Team in January 2021. He also earned a Super Bowl championship when the Buccaneers won Super Bowl LV over his former team, the Chiefs. Following these performances, he re-signed with the Buccaneers on February 9, 2021.
However, things took a different turn when the Buccaneers waived him on August 31, 2021, but Miller was again re-signed to the team’s practice squad the next day. Unfortunately, he was ultimately released from the practice squad on September 20, 2021.
Miller’s football journey handed him another opportunity when he was signed to the Cleveland Browns practice squad on September 28, 2021. Over time, he was frequently elevated to the active roster and reverted to the practice squad. Even when being waved off on occasions, he continued to persevere and work on his craft, which led to numerous re-signings to the Browns’ practice squad. His tenacity saw him being signed multiple times to the team’s roster during the 2021 season and served as a replacement player during a COVID-19 outbreak.
Henceforth, he signed a reserve/future contract with the Browns on January 13, 2022, only to be waived on August 30, 2022. Notwithstanding, he was quickly signed back to the practice squad the next day and finally made it to the active roster once again on September 9, 2022.
Despite encountering the incessant cycle of being waived and re-signed, Miller did not let it deter his journey. He was able to earn another contract on January 10, 2023, this time with the Carolina Panthers. However, the cycle continued when he was waived in August the same year.
By October 3, 2023, Miller found a new team in the Buffalo Bills, joining their practice squad following an injury to a key player, cornerback Tre’Davious White. However, his time there was not long, as he was released on December 28. As a seasoned professional, Miller continues to make his mark in football, fine-tuning his craft, anticipating the next team that will benefit from his skills.
