Dicaprio Bootle, born on September 17, 1997, has made a name for himself in the world of professional football. As an accomplished cornerback, he has been part of teams in the National Football League (NFL) such as the Los Angeles Chargers. This talented player spent his time honing his skills at Nebraska during his college years.

His journey began in Miami, Florida, where he attended Killian High School and later Southridge High School. At that time, Dicaprio stood tall and talented among his peers and was recognized in the top-60 national ranking for the cornerback position by ESPN. Despite having numerous scholarship offers, Bootle was clear about his goal and visited only Nebraska.

Bootle’s freshman year at Nebraska was spent redshirting and being part of the scouting team, laying a sturdy foundation for his future career in football. Tried and tested in every game during his sophomore year, he tallied 15 tackles, displaying his skill and determination. That was just the beginning. Becoming a more seasoned athlete, Dicaprio made a career-high record of 39 tackles and also had his first forced fumble during his sophomore year. He stunned everyone by leading all the Big Ten Conference teams with his 15 pass breakups in 2018. His astounding sophomore performance was rewarded as he was named third-team All-Big Ten.

Shifting gears in his junior year, Dicaprio started as a cornerback for the first eight games and finished the year as a safety. His gameplay was awe-inspiring, resulting in him recording 31 tackles and six pass breakups. He continued his prowess in his final season, keeping up his streak of playing every game. Dicaprio made 25 tackles, and his only career interception occurred against Iowa.

After his glorious college years, Bootle was ready for a bigger challenge. Thus, he chose to forgo his remaining eligibility and declare for the 2021 NFL draft. Although he was left undrafted, Bootle did not lose hope and ended up signing as an undrafted free agent with the Kansas City Chiefs. He proved his worth by leading the team in tackles during a game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Even though Bootle was waived by the Chiefs, he got re-signed to the practice squad and landed a spot in the active roster. With every passing game, Dicaprio proved his talent, leading to him becoming a Super Bowl champion when the Chiefs conquered the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII.

Bootle’s journey with the Chiefs ended, but he was quickly picked up by the Carolina Panthers. Despite getting placed on injured reserve, Bootle made a remarkable comeback by signing with the Los Angeles Chargers.
