BIOGRAPHY

Born on 6th August 1998, Dezmon Patmon is an American professional football player known for his prowess as a wide receiver. Currently, he represents the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League (CFL). His journey from a three-star college football recruit to a professional player exhibits relentless grit, hard work, and passion for the game.

Patmon’s nascent football journey voyaged from college arenas to the national stage. He caught the eye of many scouts during his high school years, receiving offers from multiple notable universities including Boise State, California, and UNLV. Nevertheless, Patmon committed to Washington State, kick-starting his successful college football career.

As a two-year starter for Washington State, he showcased strong potential and quickly rose through the ranks to become a valuable asset for the team. He had an impressive run as a junior when he accomplished 816 receiving yards, leading his team and ranking eighth in the Pac-12 Conference. Further, his 61 efficient receptions were an indication of his solid sportsmanship and talent as a wide receiver.

The upward trajectory of Patmon’s career continued into his senior season. He augmented his already striking stats with 58 receptions for 762 yards and eight touchdowns. Throughout his time at Washington State, Patmon displayed outstanding commitment and ability, ending his college football journey with 156 catches for a total of 1,976 yards and 13 touchdowns.

After proving his mettle at the college level, Patmon was ready for the big league. In the 2020 NFL draft, he was picked in the sixth round (212th overall) by the Indianapolis Colts, stepping into professional football. His NFL journey, however, witnessed a setback when he was placed on injured reserve at the season’s commencement on September 2, 2021, owing to an injury.

Patmon bounced back swiftly and was reactivated on November 4 to showcase his wide receiving skills yet again. December 25, 2021, marked a crucial point in his career as he scored his first touchdown in the week 15 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals, won by the Colts with a score of 22-13.

Following a series of transitions, Patmon found himself on the Colts’ waiver list on October 4, 2022. He rejoined the team the next day as part of the Colts’ practice squad briefly before being signed onto the Buffalo Bills practice squad on January 17, 2023. Despite signing a reserve/future contract on January 23, 2023, he was waived by the Bills on August 27, 2023.

Patmon remained undeterred, continuing his journey with the Carolina Panthers practice squad on September 5, 2023. However, just seven days later, he was released from the Panthers. In a turn of events, on February 5, 2024, he signed with the Michigan Panthers of the United Football League (UFL). His stint with the UFL was short-lived as he was removed from the team’s roster on March 21, 2024.

Not one to be discouraged by setbacks, Patmon seized another opportunity, this time with the BC Lions of the CFL on March 25, 2024. Although he was released by the Lions on May 15, 2024, Patmon returned to the CFL and signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on May 27, 2024.

His whole life, Patmon found inspiration close to home, named after former Michigan Wolverines wide receiver Desmond Howard. Patmon’s family heritage is tightly interwoven with football, as his uncle DeWayne Patmon played as a linebacker at Michigan and, later, the New York Giants in 2000-01. With the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Dezmon Patmon continues to strive in the footsteps of the football greats in his family.
