Devin Marquese Bush Jr., born on July 18th, 1998, is a renowned American professional football player, gracing the field as a linebacker for the Cleveland Browns in the National Football League (NFL). His remarkable football career journey is peppered with dynamic twists and turns, escalating from a college football prodigy to a respected NFL player. His profound skills on the field along with his commendable personal attributes turned him into a revered figure in the sport.

Devin Bush Jr was born to a lineage of football players. His father, Devin Bush Sr., was an illustrious NFL safety player from 1995 until 2002. So, it was only natural that Devin Jr., entrenched in the sport since birth, would follow in his father’s footsteps.

Bush was raised in Pembroke Pines, Florida, where his promising football career started to take off. He was a standout player at Charles W. Flanagan High School’s football team. Despite being tempted with a scholarship offer from Florida State, where his father initially played, Bush chose a different path for himself. He committed to play college football for the Michigan Wolverines football team in December 2015.

In early 2016, Michigan Wolverines roped in Bush Sr. as a defensive analyst for the football coaching staff. A few months later, Bush Jr. enrolled at the University of Michigan and quickly made an impact as one of the hardest-hitting players on the Michigan Wolverines football team in the 2016 season.

The subsequent year saw Bush Jr.’s extraordinary escalation as he earned the starting position at inside linebacker. His prowess was unstoppable as he led the Big Ten Conference with four sacks and five tackles for loss in the initial three games. Bush’s impressive performances, garnering noteworthy acknowledgments made him a key player for the Wolverines.

Bush’s success didn’t slow down. He ended the 2017 season on a high note with a Big Ten defensive first-team selection by the coaches. His consummate skills as a football player placed him as a Second-team All-American by Walter Camp Football Foundation.

His performances in 2017 propelled him to captain the Wolverines in the 2018 season. He was also named an AP preseason first-team All-American. Bush continued to maintain his dominance on the field, and his efforts culminated in him being named the Nagurski–Woodson Defensive Player of the Year, Butkus–Fitzgerald Linebacker of the Year. To top it off, he was also unanimously recognized as an All-American.

In December 2018, Bush took a decisive step to skip his senior season to declare for the 2019 NFL Draft, a decision that would subsequently make him a prominent player in the sport. His father’s legacy continued as Devin Bush was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft, just like his father in the 1995 NFL Draft.

Bush’s NFL tenure with the Pittsburgh Steelers got off to an impressive start. His remarkable performances that saw him recording high tackles and earning NFL Rookie of the Week, marked him as a prized acquisition for the Steelers. His stellar performance in Week 6, where he recorded a fumble return for a touchdown and an interception in the same game, was a highlight in his professional career.

In the year 2020, Bush managed to start the first five games, securing 26 total tackles, 16 solo tackles, along with a sack. Unfortunately, this was soon followed by a career halt due to a torn ACL during the week 6 game against the Cleveland Browns. This injury led to him being placed on the injured reserve on October 23, 2020.

Post injury, Bush made a comeback and played in 14 games in the 2021 season, with promising stats. However, in a surprising move, the Steelers decided not to pick up the fifth-year option on his contract, making him a free agent once more.

Post his Steelers tenure, Bush found a new home with the Seattle Seahawks on a one-year contract. Upon completion of his contract with the Seahawks, Bush signed a one-year contract with the Cleveland Browns in 2024, where he continues to mesmerize fans with his football prowess.
