Cedrick Wilson Jr., born on November 20, 1995, is an adept American professional football wide receiver. Currently, he is a key member of the New Orleans Saints in the National Football League (NFL). He has demonstrated impressive talent throughout his football career, starting with his dynamic performances in high school till his advanced moves in the professional league.

Wilson’s journey in football began at White Station High School, in Memphis, Tennessee. As a junior, he earned his place as the starter at quarterback, adopting significant responsibilities on the pitch and gaining invaluable experiences with his team. His senior year exhibited an even stronger display of his talent, where he showed his precision and decision making on the field, marking 142 of 239 completions for 1,973 yards, 22 passing touchdowns, and 7 rushing touchdowns. This helped him lead his team to the Class 6A semifinals and secure 6A All-State, second-team 16-AAA All-District honors, and the title of offensive player of the year by the Touchdown Club of Memphis.

Following high school, Wilson enrolled at Coffeyville Community College. Even as a freshman, his impressive performance yielded 629 yards and 10 touchdowns, fetching him All-conference honors. He continued his top performances in his sophomore year, with 66 receptions, 1,045 receiving yards, and 17 touchdowns. This scored him second-team Junior College All-American honors.

In 2016, Wilson made a strategic decision by transferring to Boise State University. Despite suffering from a severe injury in the fifth game of the season, an area comprising torn ligaments in his left ankle, his performance remained unwavering. During his time at Boise State, Wilson set records and played through injuries to earn his team wins and himself accolades, including MVP honors after a 38–28 win over Oregon at the Las Vegas Bowl.

Continuing on his career journey, Wilson was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in 2018 after his impressive college career. Despite facing setbacks due to injuries such as a torn labrum in his shoulder, Wilson showed resilience by exclusively training and harnessing his skills in anticipation for his appearances on the pitch.

In 2020, Wilson’s career saw a resurgence. His performance shone through in specific games, particularly against Seattle Seahawks and the New York Giants. While facing the Seahawks, Wilson marked his first game in his professional career with at least 100 receiving yards in a single game. Moreover, against the Giants, he showed his versatility on the field by throwing an 11-yard touchdown pass to quarterback Dak Prescott on a trick play securing the 37–34 win.

In the following year, he became a primary deep-ball threat for the team due to teammate Michael Gallup’s injuries. Especially remarkable was his performance in Week 18 against the Philadelphia Eagles, where he registered his best game in his career with 5 receptions for 119 yards and two touchdowns.

Opportunity knocked yet again in 2022, when Wilson signed a three-year, $22.8 million contract with the Miami Dolphins. Despite a diminished role behind Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, and competition from Trent Sherfield, Wilson made his presence felt on the roster. In the following year, his contract was restructured following a disappointing campaign, and he eyed free agency in 2024.

Wilson’s strategic move to the New Orleans Saints in 2024 was yet another exciting chapter in his career. He had already demonstrated exceptional performances over the years, leaving a memorable mark in every team he played for. Wilson’s aim was to continue to contribute to the success of his teams, showcasing his outstanding skills and talent.

His father, Cedrick Wilson Sr., himself a former NFL pro, served as one of his significant inspirations. The senior Wilson was a wide receiver for seven years with the San Francisco 49ers and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Junior’s career is a testament to the undeniable football talent that runs in the Wilson family.
