Brock Hoffman's Biography
Brock Hoffman was born on July 2, 1999. He is an internationally recognized American professional football player who holds the position of center for the prestigious Dallas Cowboys team of the National Football League (NFL). Brock’s exceptional football abilities were groomed and honed while he was studying and playing college football at Coastal Carolina and Virginia Tech.
Brock had a fairly normal upbringing, but his passion for football set him apart from an early age. He commenced his football journey in West Iredell High School and made a surprising shift to Statesville High School after just one season. His commitment to the game was apparent in high school where he rose to the position of starter center as a junior. Brock was singled out as a talented player receiving the acclaimed All-North Piedmont Conference selection. Not only did he gain recognition on the field, but off-field as well; during his senior year, he was awarded first-team NCPreps.com 3A All-state, second-team American Family Insurance All-North Carolina (all divisions), and All-North Piedmont Conference honors.
For Brock, academically, it was a time of uncertainty. He initially committed to Georgia Southern University for six months, prior to receiving a football scholarship from Coastal Carolina University which he accepted. His freshman year was remarkable – he started in all 12 games as center, bagging the title of the first true freshman to start at this position and becoming only the third true freshman to start along the offensive line in the history of the school. He was also recognized for his academic excellence with the Sun Belt Conference Commissioner’s List recognition for achieving a GPA of 3.5 for the 2017-18 academic year.
In his sophomore year, he again started all 12 matches, but this time at right guard. His unshakable defensive strategy held firm, not allowing a single sack. He was instrumental in boosting the team’s performance and was honored with CoSIDA Academic All-District first-team accolades and another Commissioner’s List recognition.
In 2019, he made a difficult decision to transfer to Virginia Tech to be geographically closer to his mother, who was experiencing health challenges after undergoing surgery to remove a brain tumor two years prior. Unfortunately, he was denied a football due to NCAA’s decision despite his appeal for immediate eligibility via the family hardship waiver. His case gained national attention.
Undeterred, Brock spent his junior year at Virginia Tech excelling at center in all 11 games and contributed significantly to the offense leading in the ACC Conference. He achieved the ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week twice following matches against the University of Louisville and North Carolina State University. He was acknowledged with All-ACC Academic Team honors.
During his senior year, Brock flitted between roles, starting in 10 fixtures as center and once as a left guard. He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Cleveland Browns in the 2022 NFL draft but was waived by the Browns. However, he was re-signed to the squad, before released again. His fortunes changed when he was signed to the Dallas Cowboys’ practice squad on November 16, 2022. He was steadily promoted to the active roster.
In January 2023, Hoffman leaped career milestones by playing in the NFC Divisional Playoff game against the San Francisco 49ers. Shortly after, he signed a reserve/future contract with the Cowboys but experienced a setback when he was waived in August 2023. Determined and undeterred, he was re-signed to the practice squad and rose to the active roster once again during the first three weeks of the season. He stood out as a center, filling in for Tyler Biadasz in the third game against the Arizona Cardinals. He earned a spot on the active roster in September and started as right guard in the season finale against the Washington Commanders, securing the NFC East division title.
