Bravvion Roy's Biography

Born on October 18, 1996, Bravvion Roy is known for his prowess on the football field as an American professional football nose tackle. He’s currently a free agent and has shown his strength in both college and professional football stints. This biography journeys through Roy’s inspiring football career and some of his exceptional achievements and milestones that make him a dynamic football nose tackle.

Growing up, Roy discovered a passion for football that nudged him to pursue it as his professional career. His journey in professional football began in college, where he played for the Baylor Bears. He demonstrated commendable skills during his time at Baylor and managed to build a strong foundation that paved the way for his future accomplishments.

At Baylor, Roy’s senior year was a testament to his indomitable spirit and talent on the field. In particular, he made an astonishing 61 tackles in a single season alongside 13 tackles-for-loss. Additionally, his season was adorned with 5.5 sacks, one forced fumble, seven quarterback hurries, and a blocked kick. This outstanding performance got him named to the first-team All-Big 12 Conference.

One of the memorable games in his college career was against Kansas State where he recorded a career-high of 3.5 tackles-for-loss and a half sack. This remarkable run of form saw him complete his college career with a total of 133 career tackles, 7.5 sacks, and 19 tackles for loss.

As the college chapter came to an end, the professional football stage was set for Roy to display his prowess. He was picked by the Carolina Panthers in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft with the 184th overall pick. His transition was eased by the presence of his Baylor head coach, Matt Rhule, who was then taking the reins at the Panthers.

In Week 12 against the Minnesota Vikings, Roy carved his name in professional turf, recording his first career sack against the reputable Kirk Cousins, despite their 28-27 loss. However, he unfortunately found himself on injured reserve in Week 2 of September 2022 due to a hamstring injury, but was dutifully activated on October 22 of the same year.

The reactivation seemed to rejuvenate the dangerous tackle, as November 20 of 2022 saw him perform a career-first interception against Lamar Jackson and his team, the Baltimore Ravens.

Despite his commendable run, the following year led to some transitions for Roy. On July 31, 2023, the Panthers waived him. Just a day later, the Chicago Bears claimed Roy off waivers. Regrettably, his stint at Chicago was short-lived as he was again waived on August 29, 2023.

However, Roy continued to persevere. On August 31, 2023, the resilient player bagged a spot on the Baltimore Ravens’ practice squad. His perseverance paid off as he signed a reserve/future contract on January 29, 2024. Despite his hard-earned progress at Baltimore, he was released on May 22. Roy’s career hasn’t been without hurdles, but his dedication and talent continue to shine through, making him an exciting talent to watch.
