Adonai Enlil “AD” Mitchell (born October 8, 2002), a Missouri City, Texas native, is a professional American football wide receiver currently playing for the Indianapolis Colts in the National Football League (NFL). Renowned for his sportsmanship and athletic prowess, Mitchell carries an impressive accolade of achievements, both in his college career and professional life, making him one of the talked-about figures in American football today.

Mitchell found his footing in football while in high school, gaining significant traction and honing his skills. He attended Cane Ridge High School in Antioch, Tennessee – a Nashville neighborhood – where he was known for his impressive track record, including 53 receptions for 795 yards, eight receiving touchdowns, 373 rushing yards, and nine rushing touchdowns on 68 attempts. This performance earned him the title of 2019 Tennessean Region 5-6A Athlete of the Year.

Before he landed at Cane Ridge, Mitchell was part of the team at Ridge Point High School, located in his hometown. His performance stood out here too, with 25 receptions totaling 378 yards and three touchdowns, coupled with 170 rushing yards and five touchdowns on 23 carries. This led to his nomination for the UIL Class 6A District 20 All-District Second Team Offense.

In January 2021, Mitchell enrolled at the University of Georgia as a three-star recruit, and he was soon ready to make his mark at the college level. He shone brightly during the Bulldogs’ spring game later that same year, where he made seven catchings out of a possible 13, accumulating 105 yards and one touchdown. His performance in week three of the 2021 Bulldogs season won him SEC Freshman of the Week.

The 2022 college football season was a major highlight of Mitchell’s career, despite being marred by an ankle injury. Despite the injury, Mitchell demonstrated his determination, making key contributions to the team’s victory in the 2022 College Football National Championship. Once recovered, Mitchell made a significant impact during the SEC title game against LSU, contributing to a memorable two-point conversion.

Following a successful tenure at Georgia, Mitchell transferred to Texas in 2023, where he continued to show his football prowess, with 55 receptions for 845 yards and 11 touchdowns.

In the 2024 NFL draft, the Indianapolis Colts secured Mitchell in the second round as their 52nd overall pick. This selection was a result of a trade that originated from the Los Angeles Rams, who originally acquired it from the Carolina Panthers.

While the beginning of his NFL career had a rocky start, with Mitchell struggling to adapt to the pace of professional play, he quickly managed to find his footing. Thanks to the guidance of the Colts’ receivers coach Reggie Wayne, Mitchell navigated the initial hurdles, earning a starting spot within the first seven games of the season.

Off the field, the athlete is affectionately known as “AD”, a short form of his name. He is a native Texan, proud father and was diagnosed as a type 1 diabetic at the age of 16, something that he manages along with his sporting commitments.
