Tari Eason

Tari Jordan Eason, a rising star in the realm of professional basketball, has emerged as a dominant force on the courts with remarkable performances. Born on May 10, 2001, Eason hails from the United States. He is currently an integral part of the Houston Rockets in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He has already left his footprints in college basketball, representing two distinguished teams, namely, the Cincinnati Bearcats and the LSU Tigers.

Before his glorious college career, Eason sharpened his skills at Garfield High School in Seattle. Under the guidance of head coach Brandon Roy, Eason laid the foundation of his basketball career. Despite playing quite sporadically in the first two years, the future star transferred to Federal Way High School in Washington, where he got the opportunity to play alongside Jaden McDaniels, another exceptional basketball talent.

Eason made his comeback to Garfield for his senior season as his coach, Roy, decided to return after a year-long sabbatical. In his senior year, Eason showcased his leadership abilities by guiding his team to clinch the 3A state title. His splendid performance in the finale, consisting of a remarkable combination of 21 points and 14 rebounds, thwarted the efforts of Paolo Banchero and O’Dea High School. His astounding performance in the tournament witnessed him walking away with the MVP award. On a serious roll, he averaged 23 points, eight rebounds, and three steals per game as a senior and earned the coveted title of the 3A Player of the Year. Quite understandably, Eason turned out to be the top pick for several universities and finally committed to playing for Cincinnati, rejecting offers from Colorado and USC.

Eason’s maiden year in college basketball was replete with accolades and recognitions. He made his mark on February 26, 2021, by recording a freshman season-high 20 points, 13 rebounds, and three blocks in a commanding 91–71 victory over Tulane. Maintaining a healthy average of 7.3 points, 5.9 rebounds, 1.3 blocks, and 1.2 steals per game, Eason bagged the American Athletic Conference All-Freshman Team honor. He transferred to LSU for his sophomore season. His second season was studded with a series of remarkable performances that led him to secure a place in the First Team All-SEC and the title of SEC Sixth Man of the Year.

The constant progression in Eason’s career was evident as he declared for the NBA draft in 2022, dropping his remaining college eligibility. Drafted 17th overall by the Houston Rockets, Eason emerged on the landscape of the NBA with his Summer League debut, demonstrating his flair by netting 14 points and 13 rebounds, culminating in a 77–91 win against the Orlando Magic. His average of 17.2 points per game in the Summer League, compiled with a shooting percentage of 44.7 from the field, 1.8 steals, and a block, fetched him a place in the All-NBA Summer League First Team.

Eason’s NBA journey began with an impressive debut against the Atlanta Hawks and continued with a career-best performance of 20 points and 13 rebounds in a victorious encounter with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
