Obi Toppin

Obi Toppin is an American NBA forward for the Indiana Pacers as of September 22, 2026. Listed at 6 feet 9 inches and 220 pounds, he was born March 4, 1998, in Brooklyn, New York. The New York Knicks selected Toppin with the eighth overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, and Indiana acquired him in a July 7, 2023 trade. The Pacers re-signed him on July 6, 2024; the team’s 2026 review described him as entering the third season of that four-year agreement.

Toppin played two seasons at the University of Dayton after redshirting, becoming the program’s first consensus All-American. In 2020, he won the Naismith Trophy as the national men’s college player of the year and was also recognized as Atlantic 10 Player of the Year. At the NBA level, Toppin is known for his open-floor speed, vertical athleticism, transition finishing and alley-oop ability. Indiana has also highlighted his willingness to run the floor, make perimeter shots and contribute energy in a reserve role.
