Mikal Bridges's Biography

Mikal Bridges is an American professional basketball player for the Phoenix Suns of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Villanova Wildcats, winning two NCAA championships. Bridges was selected by the Suns with the tenth overall pick in the 2018 NBA draft. His versatility has earned him respect among peers and coaches alike.

Bridges grew up in Malvern, Pennsylvania as one of four siblings. He attended Great Valley High School where he starred on their varsity basketball team and led them to a PIAA AAA State Championship in 2014. Following his senior season, Bridges was named Mr. PA Basketball and placed on several All-American teams including Parade Magazine’s 2014 All-America Team.

Bridges chose to attend Villanova University where he mainly played small forward but also had multiple stints at other positions including point guard due to injuries suffered by teammates or foul trouble during games. During his time at Nova he helped lead them to two national championships along with being named Big East Player of The Year twice which is a record shared only by Hall Of Fame center Patrick Ewing who accomplished this feat while playing for Georgetown University back in 1984 & 1985 respectively . In addition Mikal also became a 3x First Team All-Big East selection as well as honored with various awards such as Big East Defensive Player Of The Year (2018) Academic All-America First Team Honoree (2017 & 2018) and NABC Coaches’ Division I District 5 Player Of The Year award recipient (2018).

On June 21st 2018 Mikal fulfilled his dreams when he got drafted tenth overall in round one of that year’s NBA Draft by Phoenix Suns despite many expecting him go about five picks earlier than expected which I guess gave more motivation for him moving forward into what would become one of most successful rookie seasons from any wing player taken from that draft class . In 2019–20 season , Mikal started all 66 regular season games averaging 12 points per game, 4 rebounds plus 2 assists over 30 minutes nightly earning himself Western Conference Rookie Of The Month award three times throughout year solidifying himself as major contributor towards success experienced during that campaign . As far 2021 goes , it seems like another big role awaits Mikal within league given how stellar 2020 campaign went especially defensively finishing top 10 amongst all players across league plus 1st amongst rooking’s stating this time around floor General Chris Paul expects great things outta’ him while looking towards defending title captured last summer .
