Kevin Love is an American professional basketball player who plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was born in Santa Monica, California on September 7, 1988 and has been playing basketball since his childhood.
Love had a successful high school career at Lake Oswego High School in Oregon where he led his team to back to back state championships. Following up on this success, he was named the 2007 Gatorade All-American Boys’ Basketball Player of the Year and was selected fifth overall in the 2008 NBA draft by Memphis Grizzlies.
In 2009, Love joined forces with point guard Jonny Flynn and power forward Al Jefferson as part of a Minnesota Timberwolves young core that brought considerable success to an organization that had experienced over ten years without playoff action. This culminated when they achieved their first winning season since 2005 during which Kevin averaged 20 points per game along with 15 rebounds and 2 assists. In 2011, he wonthe NBA Most Improved Player Award after increasing his season average from 17 points per game to over 20 points per game throughout a single season.
Love’s accomplishments continued when he became an integral part of USA Basketball’s gold medal run at both 2010 FIBA World Championship and 2012 London Olympics; all while continuing top notch performances for Minnesota Timberwolves. He eventually earned himself three all-star selections – one each in 2011, 2012, 2013 – while also being voted into Western Conference starting lineup twice before moving out east after finding himself traded to Cleveland Cavaliers alongside LeBron James ahead of 2014/15 season start date.
As part of a new big three featuring Kyrie Irving and LeBron James alongside him; Kevin won 2015 Eastern Conference championship title as well as 2016 NBA championship title – thus finally achieving his own personal goal set during early stages of college career – becoming part championship winning side through individual effort alone! Having collected multiple accolades such as four-time all star selection between 2014–2018 seasons; Kevin stands strong together with rest Cavaliers players heading into 2018/19 campaign looking forward for another deep playoff run!
