Trevor Larnach's Biography

Trevor John Ikaikaloa Larnach, affectionately known as Trevor Larnach, is a celebrated professional baseball player based in America. He assumed an active role in the esteemed Minnesota Twins team in Major League Baseball (MLB) as an outfielder. Primarily known for his baseball skills, February 26, 1997, born Larnach began turning heads on the field when he made his MLB debut in 2021.

Larnach’s journey in baseball started in his early years at College Park High School situated in Pleasant Hill, California. A significant milestone in his career happened in 2015 when he got drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 40th round of Major League Baseball Draft, drawing attention to his innate skills. Nonetheless, he chose not to sign up with the Padres, aiming for a broader exposure towards the game. Instead, he joined the Oregon State University team, the Beavers, thereby getting an opportunity to be part of college baseball.

The early days at Oregon State saw Larnach as a freshman in 2016, participating in 28 games. Although his initial performance averaged at .157/.271/.176 with three runs batted in (RBI) over 51 at bats, he grew in strength with each game. This was signified in 2017 when Larnach, a sophomore, participated in 60 games, showing remarkable improvement with a hit score of .303/.421/.429, three home runs, and 48 RBIs from 198 at bats.

The subsequent two seasons witnessed Larnach in the Summer Baseball League of the Cape Cod with the Falmouth Commodores team. His extraordinary performance even saw him being named a league all-star during 2016.

Larnach’s rise was unstoppable, and in 2018 as a junior, he received a coveted position in the Pac-12 All-Conference Team. This was the year when he created ripples during the 2018 College World Series against the Arkansas Razorback. Not only did he hit a two out, two-run home run in a tiebreaker top of the ninth inning, but he also helped the Beavers secure a 5-3 lead. This spectacular victory was followed by the Beavers claiming the College World Series title and Larnach being named to the All-Tournament Team. He ended his junior season with remarkable figures – .348 batting average, 19 home runs and 77 RBIs.

This stellar performance led Larnach to be chosen as the first-round selection of the Minnesota Twins in the 2018 Major League Baseball draft. He officially signed with the Twins on July 5, securing a $2.55 million signing bonus.

Beginning his professional run with the Elizabethton Twins and then moving to Cedar Rapids Kernels, Larnach showcased promising performance between the two teams in 42 games with a score of .303/.390/.500, five home runs and, 26 RBIs.

2019 was another fruitful year as Larnach started with the Fort Myers Miracle, receiving FSL All-Star honors, and then getting promoted to the Double–A Pensacola Blue Wahoos in July. After 127 games, his remarkable performance saw him batting .309 with 13 home runs and 66 RBIs.

However, the sudden outbreak of COVID-19 resulted in the cancellation of the 2020 minor league season, halting Larnach’s progress. Finally, in May 2021, he was promoted to the major leagues, making his MLB debut as the starting left fielder against the Detroit Tigers. Tallying up his first-year stats, Larnach had 79 games under his belt, hitting .223/.322/.350 with 7 home runs and 28 RBI.

Unfortunately, a core muscle strain disrupted his 2022 season, requiring surgical repair which cut his season short. He bounced back in 2023, however, with a career-high in home runs (8) and RBIs (40), despite a relatively low batting average of .213/.311/.415. The 2024 season saw Larnach optioned back to Triple–A St. Paul to begin the season.

Belonging to a Hawaiian descent, Larnach’s family also boasts of another sports personality, Brian Cabral, his maternal uncle, who spent nine years in the National Football League.

Despite the hurdles, Trevor Larnach’s passion and commitment to the sport have left an influential mark, promising an equally exciting future innings on the field.
