Spencer Gordon Steer has firmly established his name in the American professional baseball sphere. Born on December 7, 1997, he has made strides in the sport and made his mark as a utility player for the Cincinnati Reds, one of the illustrious teams in Major League Baseball (MLB). His journey to MLB began not in Cincinnati, but in his hometown of Long Beach, California where he first embraced baseball at Millikan High School.

Spencer’s career was put on hold in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The crisis led to the cancellation of the minor league season, pushing him to the sidelines. However, Steer returned to the field in 2021, starting the season with Cedar Rapids before being promoted to the Wichita Wind Surge. During this period, Spencer participated in 110 games with both teams, scoring .254/.348/.484 with 24 home runs and 66 RBIs, setting a promising prelude for his impending MLB debut.

An important career shift happened on August 2, 2022. The Twins traded Steer, along with Steve Hajjar and Christian Encarnacion-Strand, to the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for Tyler Mahle. Following this trade, on September 1, 2022, Steer was selected by the Reds for promotion to the major leagues.
