Brady Singer

Brady Alan Singer, born on August 4, 1996, is a remarkable personality imprinting his legacy in the field of professional baseball. Currently, he demonstrates his prowess as a pitcher for the Kansas City Royals in Major League Baseball (MLB), joining the team with his debut in 2020. Prior to this, he showcased his skills in college baseball, gaining nationwide recognition as the winner of the esteemed Dick Howser Trophy and being named Baseball America’s College Player of the Year.

Hailing from Tavares, Florida, Singer’s journey to baseball stardom began at the Tavares High School, where in 2012, he played an instrumental role in guiding the THS baseball team to its first district championship in 24 years. Later, he transferred to the nearby Eustis High School. During his final year, he delivered an impressive performance with a 1.25 earned run average (ERA) and a record of 8–3, coupled with 110 strikeouts in 67 innings.

In the 2015 Major League Baseball draft, Toronto Blue Jays selected Singer in the second round. However, he chose to continue his education and baseball journey at the University of Florida where he played for the Gators. As a freshman, Singer made 23 appearances with a commendable record of 2–2, a 4.95 ERA and 38 strikeouts logged in 43+2⁄3 innings. Post-season, he shone brightly in the Cape Cod Baseball league, playing for the Falmouth Commodores. His impressive performance earned him the title of ‘best prospect’ by Baseball America.

Singer’s second year marked his elevation to the starting rotation. He was decorated with an All-SEC Second Team nomination. His leadership and skills propelled Florida to the College World Series finals against the LSU Tigers. He brilliantly struck out 12 batters in the first game, contributing significantly to a narrow 4–3 victory. Ultimately, Florida claimed the national title, and Singer’s extraordinary contribution wasn’t overlooked – he was included in the All-Tournament Team.

His third year saw Singer enhance his resume further, being named the SEC Pitcher of the Year, and being awarded the prestigious Dick Howser Trophy. During the selection, his stats boasted a brilliant 12–1 record and a remarkable 2.30 ERA. He wrapped up the season with a phenomenal 12–3 record and a 2.55 ERA boasting a .204 batting average against across 17 starts.

In the 2018 Major League Baseball draft, the Kansas City Royals recognized Singer’s talent and potential, selecting him as the 18th overall pick. He embarked on his professional career in 2019 with the Wilmington Blue Rocks. After impressing with a 1.87 ERA record over ten starts, Singer was promoted to the Northwest Arkansas Naturals where he continued his ascension, earning a spot in the 2019 All-Star Futures Game. He finished his stint with the Naturals with a respectable 3.47 ERA over 16 starts, striking out 85 over 90+2⁄3 innings.

His Major League debut came in 2020 when Singer initially pitched five innings against the Cleveland Indians. He then made MLB history as the first pitcher from the 2018 draft class to ascend to the majors. In one memorable game against the Cleveland Indians, Singer withheld any hits until the 7.2 innings mark. While facing the Detroit Tigers, he was just one pitch short of a perfect inning, only to have Miguel Cabrera break the streak.

Throughout the 2020 season, Singer appeared in 12 games, amassing a 4–5 record with a 4.06 ERA and 61 strikeouts over 64+1⁄3 innings. He continued to deliver in the following year, starting 27 games with a 4.91 ERA and 131 strikeouts over 128+1⁄3 innings. In 2022, he was assigned to the Omaha Storm Chasers, a Triple-A team, to enhance his skills further.

While ascending in his career, Singer never forgot his origins. In Christmas 2018, in a heartwarming gesture, he paid off his parents’ bank loan and all their debt, cherishing the support they had extended throughout his baseball journey up to that point.
