Spencer Gordon Steer has firmly established his name in the American professional baseball sphere. Born on December 7, 1997, he has made strides in the sport and made his mark as a utility player for the Cincinnati Reds, one of the illustrious teams in Major League Baseball (MLB). His journey to MLB began not in Cincinnati, but in his hometown of Long Beach, California where he first embraced baseball at Millikan High School.

Spencer’s prowess on the baseball diamond was evident early on, catching the attention of the Cleveland Indians who drafted him in the 29th round of the 2016 Major League Baseball draft during his high school stint. Opting to refine his skills further, Spencer chose not to sign with the Indians immediately. Instead, he sought to advance his skills in a more academic setting, turning his cleats towards the University of Oregon, where he played college baseball.

In 2018, he decided to gain additional exposure in the sport and joined the Orleans Firebirds, a team participating in the Cape Cod Baseball League, one of the premier collegiate summer baseball leagues in America. Spencer’s career was put on hold in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The crisis led to the cancellation of the minor league season, pushing him to the sidelines. However, Steer returned to the field in 2021, starting the season with Cedar Rapids before being promoted to the Wichita Wind Surge.
