As the date for UFC 286 quickly approaches, all eyes are on the highly anticipated matchup between welterweights Leon Edwards and Kamaru Usman. Both fighters have demonstrated their dominance in the octagon, but only one can reign supreme.
In one corner is Edwards, a former lightweight champion who is currently ranked at No. 6 in the welterweight rankings. He has an impressive record of 18-3 with 15 wins by knockout or submission. Edwards also holds notable victories over Rafael Dos Anjos and Gunnar Nelson to his name. He has proven himself to be an aggressive fighter with a well-rounded game of striking and grappling.
On the other side of the cage is Usman, currently ranked at No. 1 in the welterweight division and holder of an impressive 17-1 record with 7 wins by KO/TKO and 4 by submission. His impressive streak includes notable victories over Demian Maia and Tyron Woodley, making him an intimidating opponent inside the octagon. Usman is famed for his fearsome ground game as well as his powerful striking skills.
Given both fighters’ credentials, it’s hard to say who will come out on top at UFC 286; however, many experts seem to favor Usman due to his superior grappling experience and excellent conditioning. He is also known for having incredibly strong cardio which could give him an edge over Edwards during long fights. While Edwards may have an advantage when it comes to standup striking, Usman’s ground game could be key for him in dominating this fight from start to finish.
Based on these factors, we can confidently predict that Kamaru Usman will be crowned victorious against Leon Edwards at UFC 286 on April 24th 2021.
