BIOGRAPHY

Veronica Hardy, originally born Veronica Macedo, is a much-celebrated figure in the mixed martial arts (MMA) world. Hardy came into the world on October 30, 1995, in Venezuela, and has since grown into an accomplished MMA fighter famous for competing in the women’s Flyweight division of the popular Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

The spark of martial arts enthusiasm ignited within her from an early age, just as expected of someone born into a family with a fervor for martial arts. The ambiance of this sport-loving family cultivated a profound love for martial arts in Veronica. At the tender age of four, she was already engaged in Taekwondo training sessions. Her inherent talent for the sport was strikingly conspicuous as she earned her black belt by the age of twelve – an extraordinary achievement by all standards.

Even as an ardent pupil of Taekwondo, Veronica was not content with mastering only one fighting style. Other martial art forms such as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Karate, and Kickboxing also became part of her training routine. Amid Venezuela’s paralyzing political and economic instability, Veronica and her family resolved to move to Poland, hoping for a brighter future. The relocation gave her the chance to explore different martial art styles, deepening her passion for this sport and eventually leading her towards MMA.

Over the subsequent years in Poland, Veronica dedicated her life to refining her skills in different martial art forms like Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Taekwondo, and Muay Thai. Before her association with the UFC, she made a mark in the regional MMA circuit of Europe with an impressive professional record of 5-0-1.

Undeniably, Hardy’s performance in the regional promotions was striking and praiseworthy. It catapulted her into the UFC radar and by 2016, she had signed with one of the most prestigious fighting championship platforms in the world.

Her first UFC face-off was with Ashlee Evans-Smith on September 3, 2016, in UFC Fight Night 93. However, Hardy was defeated via a technical knockout in the third round. Despite this setback, Hardy remained steadfast. She confronted Andrea Lee on May 19, 2018, at UFC Fight Night 129 and though she lost, she bagged the Fight of the Night bonus.

Hardy’s commitment was unshaken and she continued to fight. She competed against Gillian Robertson in February 2019 but lost to her in the second round. She was then scheduled to face Rachael Ostovich in August 2019. However, her opponent was replaced by Polyana Viana for an undisclosed reason. This bout saw Hardy triumphant, earning her the Performance of the Night award.

By the end of 2019, Hardy was set to face Amanda Lemos, but that plan went awry, followed by a substituted bout against Ariane Lipski. Yet again, Hardy had to bow out due to severe headaches causing clearance issues by the Brazilian athletic commission. Despite these hiccups, Hardy returned to UFC and faced Bea Malecki in March 2020, but lost the fight and decided to retire, citing concussion issues.

Surprisingly, she returned after a hiatus of three years, combating Juliana Miller at UFC 286 in March 2023. Hardy emerged victorious in this unanimous decision. In December 2023, Hardy continued her winning streak and secured a split decision victory against Jamey-Lyn Horth.

Outside of the octagon, Veronica Hardy shares her life with Dan Hardy, a former UFC fighter. Their life journey blended together into marital unity on December 25, 2022. Enduring her rollercoaster of a career, Hardy stands as a figure of resilient strength in the MMA world, against the odds.
