The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is home to some of the world’s greatest fighters, and the institution itself keeps continuous records of all fighter information. These records maintain a variety of information including the origins of fighters, recent signings and departures, fight schedules and results, along with the reigning champion of each division.
As of 21st July 2023, the UFC roster had an impressive range of fighters from 73 different countries, showcasing the organization’s global impact. Over the last month, several fighters have either broken contractual obligations with the UFC or announced their retirement. Fighters who have not officially declared their departure are classified based on their withdrawal from the UFC rosters.
There is also a section of athletes who have recently been signed with the UFC but have yet to make their debut. Similarly, fighters who have previously announced their retirement but have made a return, or are yet to do so, are also highlighted.
UFC, committed to the fair sport, has strict anti-doping policies. Fighters suspended either by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) or World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) for substance abuse or misconduct, by local commissions on misconduct at fighting venues, or by UFC itself can be found here. As of May 16, 2019, a total of 76 UFC fighters have faced USADA sanctions since the inception of the UFC USADA testing program.
The representation of nations through flag icons in these records is according to UFC’s official telecasts, and may not truly represent the fighters’ full citizenship. The records stay up-to-date with the most recent amendments made after the UFC Fight Night: Moreno vs. Royval 2 on 24th February 2024.
The UFC rankings system, maintained by a panel of dedicated MMA media members, rates the top active fighters in the UFC per weight class and pound-for-pound. Fighters can rank in several divisions simultaneously if they have competed in more than one. The champions and interim champions secure the top positions in their weight classes, however, only reigning champions are eligible for votes in the pound-for-pound rankings.
Updated as of February 27, 2024, following the UFC Fight Night: Moreno vs. Royval 2, these rankings present a clear picture of the top fighters in the UFC.
Currently, the UFC utilizes nine different weight classes. The latest update to the list of champions was made on December 16, 2023, after UFC 296. The most notable fights have seen some important wins and draws, including; Amanda Lemos being defeated at UFC 292 on August 19, 2023, a draw between Valentina Shevchenko and rival at UFC Fight Night 227 on September 16, 2023, Alexander Volkanovski losing twice at UFC 284 on February 12, 2023, and UFC 294 on October 21, 2023.
As one can observe, the UFC records are a rich source of information, accurately reflecting the diverse and dynamic world of mixed martial arts represented by the organization. These records continuously change and evolve, embodying the true essence of the challenging and rewarding journey of being a UFC fighter.
