Serhiy Sidey

Serhiy Sidey is a Ukrainian-Canadian mixed martial artist competing in the UFC bantamweight division. The UFC currently lists him as an active athlete and identifies his place of birth as Chernivtsi Oblast, Ukraine. He stands 5 feet 11 inches tall, has a 72-inch reach, and is listed with a freestyle fighting style. His professional career began in 2018, and he developed through Canadian regional MMA before reaching the UFC.

Sidey earned a UFC contract after stopping Ramon Taveras by strikes in the first round of their Dana White’s Contender Series bout on September 5, 2023. He made his UFC Octagon debut against Taveras at UFC 297 on January 20, 2024, then recorded a split-decision victory over Garrett Armfield on November 2, 2024, and a unanimous-decision victory over Cameron Smotherman on May 3, 2025. These appearances established him as a pressure-oriented bantamweight comfortable working in striking exchanges while drawing on a broader grappling base.

Before joining the UFC, Sidey held regional championship titles with Battlefield Fight League and BTC. His UFC profile also states that he studied Criminal Justice at the University of Guelph-Humber, previously worked as a snowboarding instructor, and holds a purple belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Sidey has described training as a way to build self-confidence after being bullied before high school, and he has emphasized disciplined preparation, repeated practice and performing under pressure as central parts of his development.
