BIOGRAPHY

Saparbek Safarov is a Russian mixed martial artist who currently competes in the UFC’s Light Heavyweight division. He is best known for his aggressive and unpredictable fighting style, which has led to some entertaining fights in the Octagon.

Safarov started his MMA career back in 2012, when he was just 20 years old. He began by making a name for himself on the local Moscow circuit, where he quickly gained recognition as one of the top up-and-coming talents within Russia’s MMA scene. Over time, he emerged as one of Russia’s most successful fighters, earning several wins over notable opponents and capturing multiple titles before eventually signing with the UFC in 2017.

Since then, Safarov has gone 4-3 inside the Octagon with all four of his wins coming via knockout or TKO stoppage. His biggest win came at UFC Fight Night 159 against Michal Oleksiejczuk when he scored a crushing second round knockout victory that earned him “Performance of the Night” honors from Dana White and company. In addition to this accolade, Saparbeg also holds three additional “Fight Of The Night” awards from past bouts against Gian Villante (UFC Fight Night 143), Gian Villante (UFC 228), and Oskar Piechota (UFC 242).

Outside of fighting inside the cage, Safarov enjoys spending time outdoors hiking or biking around Moscow with friends and family members whenever possible. Additionally, he recently opened up an MMA gym near his hometown called “The Lion’s Den,” where local fighters can come train under Coach Andrei Pushkarov who is an accomplished Judo Black Belt holder among other impressive credentials within martial arts training systems such as Systema & Sambo Wrestling .
