Roque Martinez is a professional mixed martial artist from Guam. He currently competes in the UFC’s bantamweight division and is one of the top contenders in the division.

Martinez was born on June 18, 1981, in Agana Heights, Guam. He began training martial arts at an early age and by his teenage years he had been exposed to several different styles including boxing and kickboxing as well as wrestling. During his high school years he competed in amateur boxing tournaments throughout Guam and won multiple titles before transitioning into MMA competition when he turned pro during 2004.

Since then Martinez has gone on to become one of the most successful fighters originating from Guam, with wins over some very tough opponents such as former WEC champion Chase Beebe, current UFC fighter Andre Soukhamthath, current Bellator fighter Gaston Bolanos as well as others within regional promotions throughout Asia Pacific region.

In 2012 Martinez signed with Pacific Xtreme Combat (PXC) where he would remain for four years becoming their first ever two-division champion after capturing both the Bantamweight title (vs Ernesto Montilla III) and Featherweight title (vs Jesse Taitano). On July 7th 2016 Roque made his way back home to compete for PXC once again but this time it was against North American promotion Legacy Fighting Championship which saw him win by unanimous decision vs Guilherme Santos earning himself a shot at their Featherweight championship belt but eventually deciding instead to move up divisions due to injury concerns leaving behind numerous titles held prior respectively under various organizations spanning across US & South East Asia regions showcasing an impressive career thus far since turning pro more than a decade ago now fighting exclusively under UFC banner since 2018.

Under Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), Martinez made his debut at Fight Night Chile event against former flyweight number one contender Hector Sandoval whom he defeated via first round TKO making it five straight wins for ‘Da Cage’s Best’ all culminating towards earning consecutive performance bonuses ($50K each) whilst competing inside octagon making him only second guamanian athlete joining Jon Fitch whom holds record of most fight night bonuses earned globally so far totaling $275K combined earnings before being released during 2020 roster cuts post COVID pandemic restructuring period prompting immediate re-signings thereafter according promotional officials confirming same during press release earlier this year August 2021 – setting stage what could be yet another exciting chapter ahead having already taken out couple big names name amongst fellow ranked contemporaries recently plus being recognised accolades awarded category excellence male bantamweights nominee award 2021 season morning ufc awards show January 2022 followed footsteps several former champions establishing legacy own century’s end staking claim rightful spot atop mountain world championships potential prize awaiting victor achieving feat
