BIOGRAPHY

Born on 8th June 1995, in the samba-driven and football-obsessed nation of Brazil, Rayanne Amanda dos Santos was destined to carve her own niche in the world of combat sports. This ambitious and determined woman is a highly skilled and acclaimed mixed martial artist, presently contending in the much-coveted strawweight division of the globally recognized Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Dos Santos was not new to combat sports when she stepped into the UFC, having already left her mark in Invicta FC, where she had the privilege of being crowned the atomweight champion.

As of June 2023, dos Santos emerged as the third-best atomweight in the world, solidifying her reputation as a formidable contender in Sherdog’s highly regarded world rankings. One could say that Amanda’s early initiation into martial arts and her succeeding prowess was embedded in her genes. Bred in a household that applauded and revered the artistry and discipline of jiu-jitsu, the dos Santos were well-known black belt practitioners. This included Amanda’s parents and her siblings. Since her seventh birthday, Amanda started to immerse herself deeply into the world of jiu-jitsu before branching out into mixed martial arts.

This attenuation towards giving back to society eventually led Amanda to procure a degree in Social Work. She attempted to amalgamate her love for martial arts and her social responsibility into a flourishing social project specifically aimed at children in Brazil. Despite the commendable initiative, Amanda had to reluctantly shut it down, in order to dedicate all her concentration to her burgeoning MMA career.

Amanda spent a significant part of her life and career honing her skills in Brazil. However, an opportunity came calling and she made a life-altering decision to shift her base to Houston, USA. This move was further sweetened by her engagement to her companion and fellow MMA fighter, Kolton Englund.

Commencing her professional endeavor into Mixed Martial Arts in 2015, Amanda split her fight timetable between Brazil and Canada. Before signing her contract with Invicta, Amanda had a decent tally of 12 victories and 6 defeats in her record book. Her strong performance got her noticed and she landed a career-defining opportunity to train and fight with Invicta.

Amanda’s first assignment in Invicta was a bout against Edna Oliveira Ajala at Shooto Brasil 101. She emerged victorious by a unanimous decision of the judges. She replicated her success against Maiara Amanajas dos Santos in another Shooto Brasil event, Shooto Brasil 106, further solidifying her rising reputation in the MMA circuit.

She faced a minor setback when she lost against Denise Gomes at Dana White’s Contender Series 51 in August 2022. Despite this hiccup, dos Santos returned defiantly in her debut Invicta bout against Katie Saull at Invicta FC 51 in January 2023, and won by unanimous decision.

Earning her spot at a title shot championship, Dos Santos was set against the reigning atomweight champion Jillian DeCoursey on May 3, 2023, at Invicta FC 53: DeCoursey vs. Dos Santos. Displaying an impressive mastery over her opponent, dos Santos was declared the atomweight champion, after winning the fight, once again, via unanimous decision.

In October 2023, dos Santos made a notable switch from Invicta to the UFC and decided to compete in the strawweight division. Despite a narrow defeat by a split decision against Talita Alencar at UFC Fight Night: Song vs. Gutiérrez in December 2023, Amanda’s spirits remained unbroken.

As she looked ahead to the future, Amanda was set to lock horns with Puja Tomar on her 29th birthday, at UFC on ESPN 57, representing another step in her promising journey in UFC and potentially impressing her mark at a new weight class.
