BIOGRAPHY

Ray Rodriguez is a professional mixed martial artist and a former UFC fighter. Rodriguez has been fighting professionally since 2009 and has found success in both the lightweight and welterweight divisions of the UFC, holding multiple titles while competing in various promotions over his career. He has also competed in Bellator MMA, ONE Championship, Titan FC, and numerous regional promotions throughout his career.

Born on October 6th 1988 in San Diego California, Ray Rodriguez grew up surrounded by music as his mother was a singer and his father was an accomplished guitarist who often played at local clubs around town. From an early age he had an interest for sports but it wasn’t until high school that he discovered mixed martial arts after joining the wrestling team. After graduating high school he attended Palomar College where he majored in boxing before eventually enrolling at San Diego State University to pursue a degree in kinesiology with the intention of becoming a personal trainer or physical therapist one day.

In 2009 Ray made his professional debut against George Ransom at Maximum Force Fighting 4: Bad Blood where he defeated him via technical submission due to strikes earning himself Victory Of The Night honors on this night marking the start of what would be one of most successful careers to date for any Mixed Martial Artist from San Diego County. Over the course of four years Ray competed all across Southern California piling up victories along the way including notable wins over Gilbert Melendez (future Strikeforce Lightweight Champion) as well as WEC veterans Bryan Caraway & Anthony Avila amongst others before making his first venture into Asia competing under OneFC taking home back-to-back victories there over Seung Hwan Bang & Vincent Latoel respectively..
It was then announced on April 29th 2014 that Ray had signed with UFC becoming only second San Diegan ever to fight under their banner after Jake Ellenberger who debuted 2 years prior against current light heavyweight champion Jon Jones). His debut took place at (UFC175) July 5th 2014 opposite another promotional newcomer George Sullivan whom Ray won via unanimous decision leading him towards more successes inside octagon going 3-1 during run with promotion defeating Chris Heatherly ,Steve Montgomery & Gilbert Smith while losing sole bout inside octagon versus Cole Miller before getting released from organization this past August 2018 following split decision loss versus Ryan LaFlare due lack consistency during career despite having few standout performances against some opponents mentioned above..

After short stint competing outside organization again winning majority bouts by stoppage such decisions ,knockouts submissions ,it was reported earlier month that rejoined ranks being featured upcoming card scheduled take place November 14th 2020 Card TBD . With new promotional deal addition weight classes which could potentially make exciting fights between two weight classes for fans world wide watch looks set have resurgence something which many followers sport hope will help reignite passion successful run within world’s foremost promotion combat sports .
