Nyamjargal Tumendemberel Bio
The Ultimate Fighting Championship, known as the UFC, is a worldwide phenomenon in the realm of mixed martial arts. This bio is designed to offer in-depth details about currently active fighters, their backgrounds, performance statistics, recent signings, departures, and fight outcomes, along with updates on divisional championships.
As of 15th April 2024, the UFC roster is an assortment of fighters from diverse origins, spreading across 78 countries, thereby creating a dynamic sporting environment. Fighters are occasionally released from their contracts or decide to retire. While some departures are officially announced, others are inferred from their removal from the UFC’s active rosters.
Moreover, new recruits are regularly signed by the UFC, some of them are fresh inductees eagerly waiting to make their professional debut while others are veterans making a comeback post-retirement. Some fighters return from announced hiatus, eagerly awaited by fans who anticipate their return to the octagon.
On the other hand, a certain criterion places fighters under suspension, ranging from violating anti-doping regulations imposed by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) or World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), misconduct during fights, or within event venues, as dictated by local commissions, or specific grounds provided by the UFC. From the start of the UFC USADA testing program until May 16, 2019, around 76 UFC fighters have faced sanctions by the USADA, reflecting the stringency of the organisation’s rules.
Worth mentioning is the UFC’s flagicon listing policy. The flags shown during telecasts are intended to represent each fighter’s nationality, however, they may not fully encapsulate the individual’s full citizenship.
The standings of UFC fighters are kept up-to-date via a panel consisting of MMA media members. They vote for the top active fighters in the UFC by weight class and pound-for-pound. Some unique fighters manage to establish dominance in multiple weight categories simultaneously. Champions and interim champions are allocated the highest ranks in their respective weight classes, with champions being exclusively eligible for the pound-for-pound rankings.
The UFC spans over nine different weight classes, each with its defending champion. As of April 14, 2024, following UFC 300, a series of successful title defenses have been highlighted. Amanda Lemos was defeated at UFC 292 on August 19, 2023. Yan Xiaonan was bested at UFC 300 on April 13, 2024. Brandon Royval saw defeat at UFC 296 on December 16, 2023, and Steve Erceg lost at UFC 301 on May 4, 2024.
A draw was declared between Kamaru Usman and Valentina Shevchenko at UFC Fight Night: Grasso vs. Shevchenko 2 on September 16, 2023. Marlon Vera lost at UFC 299 on March 9, 2024, while Alexander Volkanovski saw defeat twice, first at UFC 284 on February 12, 2023, and later at UFC 294 on October 21, 2023. Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington were defeated at UFC 286 and 296 respectively on March 18 and December 16, 2023. And finally, Jamahal Hill was bested at UFC 300 on April 13, 2024.
This compilation is an inclusive, up-to-date reflection of UFC’s dynamism, reflecting the state of affairs as of May 14, 2024, following UFC on ESPN: Lewis vs. Nascimento.
