BIOGRAPHY

Mohammad Yahya is a professional MMA fighter and former Olympic wrestler from Syria. He competes in the UFC’s light heavyweight division. His career has seen him travel extensively, competing in countries including Russia, Azerbaijan, Iran and Iraq. Prior to becoming an MMA fighter, he was an Olympic athlete who represented his country at the 2008 Beijing Olympics where he placed fifth in the 96kg Greco-Roman wrestling category.

Yahya started training at just eight years old with his father being his first coach and mentor. He soon developed a passion for martial arts and decided to pursue it professionally when he was sixteen. During this time he trained hard and managed to win numerous Syrian national championships before deciding to take part in international competitions. After his success at the Olympics, Mohammad decided that it was time for him to make the transition into mixed martial arts (MMA).

Since then Yahya has gone on to become one of the most successful light heavyweight fighters in UFC history having fought some of its top names such as Glover Teixeira, Anthony Smith and Ion Cutelaba as well as going undefeated against opponent Krzysztof Jotko during their fight in 2019 which earned him performance of the night bonus award . In addition to winning these fights Yahya also holds records for highest takedown defence percentage (68%) , most wins by submission (8) , most significant strikes landed (734) amongst other accolades .

To remain competitive inside cage yahya trains daily with many different coaches depending on what skill set they can provide him with but mainly focuses on jiu-jitsu , Muay Thai kickboxing , boxing as well as strength & conditioning which have all helped him reach level of success that he currently finds himself enjoying now . Additionally outside gym yahya enjoys spending quality time with friends family while also trying out new hobbies like fishing or playing football whenever possible .

At 32 years old Mohammad shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon & will continue doing what got him here so far i-e leaving everything inside octagon come fight night while keeping improving every day until reach point where nobody can stop him from achieving goal want .
