BIOGRAPHY

Ivan Erslan, born on November 15, 1991 in Obrovac, Croatia, stands tall at 188 cm and weighs around 93kg. His combat sports career began with kickboxing, but in 2015 he made a name for himself in the world of mixed martial arts (MMA). Over the past couple of years, Erslan has successfully transitioned from a Polish federation, KSW, where he twice contended for the light heavyweight championship, to the American federation UFC, proving himself as a formidable opponent.

Erslan embarked on his professional MMA journey on May 2, 2015, by defeating Mateo Piščka through technical knockouts in the first round. Before joining KSW, Erslan maintained an unbeaten record of 7-0, showcasing his MMA skills at regional events in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Slovenia. Toward the end of 2018 and the beginning of 2019, he competed in two matches in Las Vegas for the Final Fight Championship.

On September 21, 2019, it was announced that Erslan signed a contract with KSW and would make his debut at the KSW 51 event in Zagreb. He faced off against the Spaniard, Darwin Rodriguez, and won the fight with a technical knockout in the first round.

During the FNC 3: Bakočević vs. Trušček event held on July 31, 2020, in the Croatian capital, Erslan defeated Serbian Yusufov Hajrovic through a TKO in the first round.

Erslan was given a chance to compete for the light heavyweight championship on November 14, 2020, against Tomasz Narkun, who had been the reigning champion for over five years. However, in the second round, Narkun successfully choked out Erslan.

Despite this setback, Erslan bounced back, winning a match against the well-known Przemysław Mysiala at the KSW 61 event on June 5, 2021. He achieved this victory through a technical knockout a minute before the end of the first round.

In the main match of the FNC 4: Armagedon 2 Finals on December 4, 2021, Erslan knocked out Brazilian Henrique da Silva.

Later, it was expected that he would face undefeated Latvian, Hasana Mieżyjewa, at the KSW 67 event on February 26, 2022. However, days before the event, it was announced that Mieżyjew had to withdraw from the fight due to a positive COVID-19 test and was replaced by Caio Bitencourt. On the weighing day, Bitencourt faced health problems during weight cut and was not permitted to fight.

Erslan’s next match was against Rafał Kijańczuk at the KSW 70 event in Łódź’s Atlas Arena on May 28, 2022. He successfully knocked out his opponent in the first round with powerful hits. After the event, he was awarded the bonus for the best knockout of the night for the second time.

In the main event of KSW 75 on October 14, 2022, he was given another chance to fight for the light heavyweight championship against the current champion, Ibragim Czużygajew. Unfortunately, the fight was canceled due to Czużygajew being unable to travel to Poland because of sanctions related to Russia. Despite the organization’s efforts, no substitute opponent for Erslan was found.

Erslan’s next fight took place on May 28, 2023, during the Croatian FNC 11 event. He demolished the Brazilian representative Dirlei Broenstrup in the first round with hits on the ground.

He fought against Rafał Haratyk during the KSW 87: Stošić vs. Martínek event in the Czech Republic on October 14, 2023. However, he lost in the first round after being hit by Haratyk.

On February 24, 2024 at the XTB KSW Epic: Khalidov vs. Adamek event, Erslan knocked out the former contender for the KSW belt, Bohdan Hnidko, in less than a minute.

On July 17, 2024, Erslan signed a contract with the top MMA organization in the world, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He is set to make his UFC debut in Paris on September 28th at UFC Fight Night: Moicano vs. Saint Denis, where he will face Moldovan fighter, Ion Cuțelaba.
