BIOGRAPHY

Hamdy Abdelwahab is one of the most successful mixed martial arts (MMA) athletes in the world. He began his career as a professional fighter in 2009 and has since earned an impressive record of 28 wins, 8 losses, and 1 draw.

Abdelwahab was born in Cairo, Egypt and first started training when he was just a young boy of eight years old. His original goal was to become a boxer, but at sixteen he discovered MMA fighting in which he could combine his boxing skills with other martial arts such as Muay Thai and wrestling. Since then Hamdy has been dedicated to becoming the best fighter possible so that he can achieve success inside the octagon.

His dedication paid off when Abdelwahab made his debut for Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) on April 9th 2011 at UFC 129 against Mark Bocek where he won via unanimous decision. Since then Hamdy has had 14 bouts for UFC including notable fights against Rony Jason at UFC Fight Night 77 where he won via TKO; Cub Swanson at Fight Night 95 where won via split decision; Brian Ortega Fight Night 102 where lost by submission due to triangle armbar; Doo Ho Choi at UFC 221 which ended up being fight of the night; Chan Sung Jung “Korean Zombie”at UFC Fight Night 139where lost by submission due to arm-triangle choke ; Makwan AmirkhaniatFight Night 153where won by unanimous decision among others .

Most recently , Abdelwahab faced Kyle Nelson on July 25th 2020 as part of Dana White’s Contender Series 32 event, winning via KO/TKO punch in round 2 thus earning him a contract with UFC .

Outside of competing ,Hamdy works closely alongside veteran fighters such as Demetrious Johnson , Neil Magny ,and Gilbert Burns who have helped him develop into an even better athlete both physically and mentally .
