Genaro Valdez is a professional mixed martial artist and Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fighter from Los Angeles, California. He began his career in the sport of MMA at the age of 15 and has since become one of the most successful fighters in UFC history. His record currently stands at an impressive 24-4-1 with wins against some of the biggest names in MMA including Jon Jones, Dan Henderson, and Cub Swanson.
Valdez’s rise to fame began when he joined Team Alpha Male, a well-known training camp for some of the world’s best MMA fighters. Under their guidance, he quickly developed into one of the top featherweights in all divisions. He began to gain recognition for his fierce striking style which was supplemented by strong wrestling skills that allowed him to take down opponents with ease. This combination led to several impressive victories over highly rated fighters such as Rony Jason and Hatsu Hioki.
In 2012 Genaro Valdez signed on with Zuffa LLC., parent company of UFC where he made his debut against former WEC champion Cub Swanson at UFC on Fox 2 event held in Chicago Illinois. Despite being a relative unknown going into this fight Genaro put on an impressive performance finishing off Swanson via rear naked choke submission just 3 minutes into round 1 earning him Fight Of The Night honors plus $50 thousand bonus money along with it!
