Carlos Mota is a professional mixed martial artist and Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt who currently competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) division of the Light Heavyweight division. A native of Sao Paulo, Brazil, he began his martial arts training at an early age, studying both judo and boxing as well as jiu-jitsu. He made his way to the United States in order to further pursue his fighting career and has since gone on to become one of the top contenders in UFC’s light heavyweight division.

Mota first gained notoriety for winning several championships within the amateur MMA circuit before turning pro in 2009. Since then he has competed multiple times for various promotions including Cage Warriors, Strikeforce, King of The Cage and Bellator among others amassing an impressive record along the way with only two losses amongst 25 wins which include 14 by submission. After signing with UFC late 2014 Carlos Mota proved himself worthy making a statement by defeating Ovince Saint Preux via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 50 going on to win three out four fights under contract with them earning him “Performance of The Night” honors against Rafael Cavalcante at UFC 198.

As far as titles go Carlos Mota holds multiple ones such as BJJ World Champion (2005), Pan American NoGi Absolute Champion (2006 & 2007), European Open Absolute Champion (2008), IBJJF bronze medalist at world no gi champion(2007). His achievements have been recognized by some of his peers such as Antonio Nogueira whom once stated “Carlos possesses great strength coupled with technical skill that make it difficult for opponents to escape from or counter submissions against.”

Outside of competition Carlos Mota can be found teaching seminars around North America emphasizing not just technique but also how one should approach their martial arts journey from physical training all way up mindset aspect that can help anyone become successful competitor or better yet strong individual capable facing all obstacles life throws our way .
