BIOGRAPHY

Rogerio Nogueira is a veteran mixed martial artist who has been competing in the UFC for over 13 years. He has fought in some of the biggest fights in MMA history, including a victory over former light heavyweight champion Mauricio Rua and a championship fight against current middleweight champion Anderson Silva. He currently holds an impressive record of 23-9-1, with 18 of those victories coming via submission. His unique style incorporates both Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai, making him one of the most versatile fighters in the sport.

Nogueira was born on December 19th 1981 in Rio de Janeiro Brazil and began his martial arts journey at the age of 4 when he started training Judo under his uncle’s guidance. At 15 he began to learn kickboxing and by 18 had transitioned into Brazilian jiu jitsu where he obtained his black belt just three years later. He made his professional Mixed Martial Arts debut at 21 as part one PRIDE Fighting Championships Middleweight Grand Prix where he earned victory’s over Murilo Bustamante and Kazuhiro Nakamura before losing to Mauricio “Shogun” Rua via split decision in the finals of tournament.

In 2007 Nogueira moved to Japan where he continued fighting for PRIDE until they were purchased by Zuffa LLC(parent company or UFC) which eventually led him to make his octagon debut at UFC 73 against David Heath whom he defeated via unanimous decision. Since then Nogueira has taken on some big names such as Tito Ortiz , Antonio Rogerio Nogueiara (his twin brother), Randy Couture , Rich Franklin , Phil Davis among others; but perhaps none more memorable than Anderson Silva whom defeated for Strikeforce middleweight championship back 2011 . After dropping two out three bouts during 2014 -2015 season it became apparent that time may be running out for aging fighter so after being released from contract 2016 decided take break from competition allowing body heal up before returning cage 2018 defeat Tyson Pedro knockout .
