Myles Gaskin's Biography

Myles Gaskin, born in Lynnwood, Washington on February 15, 1997, displays an intimate passion for the game of football. This passion was nurtured at the Alderwood Boys and Girls Club, where his coach noticed Gaskin’s athletic prowess while playing basketball. Gaskin’s athletic journey evolved when he joined O’Dea High School in Seattle, where he made remarkable achievements as a running back. He rushed a staggering 2,182 yards with 35 touchdowns as a junior and 1,567 yards with 25 touchdowns as a senior. Besides football, he also exhibited his athleticism in track, competing in the 100 meter dash and the 4 by 100 meter relay.

Upon graduating from high school, he committed to the University of Washington for his college football career. He demonstrated his supreme skills as a true freshman, becoming the first in the school’s history to rush over 1,000 yards in a season. He finished with 1,302 rushing yards leading to a school record of 14 rushing touchdowns. This achievement earned him the title of the 2015 Heart of Dallas Bowl Most Valuable Player. His sophomore year was no less impressive, as he played in all 14 games and amassed 1,373 yards and 10 touchdowns. His accolades led to his inclusion in the All-Pac-12 Conference first-team.

His junior year was statistically the most successful, wherein he led the Pac-12 with 21 rushing and 24 total touchdowns. He ranked fifth in the conference in rushing yards. He also recorded the only 200+ game of his career during the fourth season game at Colorado. Despite a slight decline in his senior year, Myles became the first Pac-12 player with four 1,000+ rushing-yard-seasons. His efforts propelled the 2018 Huskies to the conference championship and the Rose Bowl. In his final college game, Gaskin rushed two touchdowns and passed for a third.

At the end of his college journey, Gaskin had secured his place in Washington’s Hall of Fame with 62 touchdowns and 5,323 rushing yards, ranking him among the top in the history of the Pac-12. His school records also include 26 100-rushing-yard games, 57 rushing touchdowns, ten rushes of 50+ yards, and a total of 5,878 all-purpose yards.

Upon transitioning to professional football in the 2019 NFL draft, Gaskin was selected by the Miami Dolphins. In his rookie year, he appeared in seven games, achieving 133 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown. The following season, despite starting as a backup, he showed great promise with 95 scrimmage yards in his first career start. However, he was placed on injured reserve in November due to a sprained MCL. After recovery, Gaskin was back on the field, rushing 87 yards and recording 2 touchdowns during a game against the Las Vegas Raiders.

In 2021, despite the Dolphins’ lackluster performance, Gaskin remained a shining star. He finished the season with 846 yards from scrimmage, beating most on his team. Unfortunately, his season ended prematurely due to injury.

In 2023, Gaskin signed a one-year contract extension with Miami, but was released later that year. He was then signed by the Minnesota Vikings: a rollercoaster ride that saw him released, re-signed to the practice squad, elevated to the active roster and back several times. Gaskin also had a brief stint with the Los Angeles Rams that year, appearing on special teams in one game. He was eventually re-signed to the Vikings’ practice squad later that year, culminating in a total of 10 snaps played during the season, all on special teams.

Despite being waived by the Vikings in 2024, Gaskin was persistent in his resolve, got re-signed to the practice squad, and later promoted to the active roster, exemplifying unwavering determination and raw passion for the sport.
