Keion Crossen's Biography

Keion Crossen, a man whose life revolves around football, was born on April 17, 1996, and has subsequently built a professional career as an American football cornerback. He is seen as a reputable footballer by sports enthusiasts, so much so that he is once drafted during the seventh round of the 2018 NFL draft by the high-profile New England Patriots. Before stepping into the professional circuit, Crossen depicted an essence of a true sportsman at Western Carolina University, where his football skills were honed.

Crossen turned out to be a prominent two-sport student-athlete, exhibiting brilliance and commitment in both football and track & field activities. His determination was mirrored on the football field, where he managed to build a noticeable presence. His versatility was equally evident in track & field events, wherein he was crowned the SoCon champion in the men’s 100-meter dash at the 2016 outdoor championships. His remarkable performance of covering the distance in a staggeringly short time of 10.33 seconds, not only marked a new school record but also qualified him for the NCAA East Preliminary.

On the football field, Crossen was a cornerstone in the defensive secondary for the Catamounts, accumulating a laudable number of 165 career tackles spanning across 46 matches over his four-year college tenure. His distinct contribution included 106 solo stops and five tackles for loss, implying his essential role in the team’s defensive strategy. Additionally, his performance statistics are embellished with three career interceptions and a total of 19 pass break-ups.

After a spectacular college career, Crossen’s professional journey eagerly followed. It began with him getting drafted by the New England Patriots in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL draft. He proved to be instrumental in the Patriots’ journey towards Super Bowl LIII, where his contributions helped them secure a victory over the Los Angeles Rams with a score of 13–3.

However, Crossen’s stint with the Patriots concluded on August 31, 2019, as he was transferred to the Houston Texans in exchange for a conditional future draft pick. In an iconic playoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs, Crossen successfully recovered a fumble lost by the opponent’s punt returner Tyreek Hill during the match.

The following year, on August 16, 2021, destiny landed him with the New York Giants in a trade for a 2023 sixth-round draft pick. Shortly after, on March 17, 2022, Crossen signed a contract that would extend over three years with the Miami Dolphins, marking another milestone on his professional path.

This journey faced an abrupt halt on August 29, 2023, when Crossen was placed on injured reserve due to health issues. His tenure with the Miami Dolphins came to an end the following year on March 5, 2024, when he was released and thus, leaving him as a free agent in the highly competitive football industry, eager and ready for what the future held for him.
