Moses Wright's Biography
Moses Anthony Wright, known as ‘Wright the Right’, was born on December 23, 1998, in America. He later became a naturalized Cypriot and has carved out an impressive resume in professional basketball. The Georgia Tech alumnus is currently playing for Olympiacos in the Greek Basketball League (GBL) and EuroLeague.
Wright’s sports journey began with swimming and tennis throughout his childhood. Basketball was a sport he only began playing when high school started. His underdog story started in Enloe High School in Raleigh, North Carolina, where he joined the junior varsity team in his first two years. Wright also spent some time with the Raleigh Hawks, a homeschool team, during his junior year before making the leap to Enloe’s varsity team in his senior season. At this point, he had shown potential, averaging 21.5 points, 13.5 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game. Despite being lightly recruited by NCAA Division I programs, Wright committed to playing college basketball for Georgia Tech.
During his freshman year at Georgia Tech, Wright established himself as a valuable player, averaging 3.6 points and 3.4 rebounds per game. He then showcased more of his capabilities in his sophomore year, tallying a season-high 25 points and seven rebounds during a tournament against Notre Dame. He ended the season with an average of 6.7 points and 3.7 rebounds per game.
Wright was also not a stranger to challenges alongside successes. On March 8, 2021, he received the recognition of the ACC Player of the Year and a spot on the first-team All-ACC for his senior season. However, a positive COVID-19 test resulted in Wright missing the NCAA tournament round of 64 games against Loyola Chicago, a significant setback in his journey.
After college, Wright tested the waters in the NBA draft, where he went undrafted in 2021. Remaining undeterred, he used the opportunity to join the New Orleans Pelicans for the 2021 NBA Summer League, averaging 7.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game. This showcase of skill led him to sign with the Los Angeles Clippers later that year.
Despite initially getting waived by the team, Wright was reacquired and activated by the Agua Caliente Clippers, an affiliate player in the NBA G League, where he averaged 13.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in 29.7 minutes over 13 games. In February 2022, he signed a two-way contract with the Dallas Mavericks.
Wright’s extensive journey in basketball has led him to various leagues and teams worldwide. By July 2022, he signed with the Zhejiang Golden Bulls of the Chinese Basketball Association. Wright also made his 2023 NBA Summer League debut for the Toronto Raptors. By December that year, he signed with Merkezefendi Bld. Denizli Basket of the Basketbol Süper Ligi (BSL). By January 2024, Wright had moved on to make his mark with Olympiacos of the Greek Basket League (GBL) and EuroLeague through 2025. With great performances, he received the Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for Round 2 on October 16, 2024.
Off the court, Wright’s life has held its own difficulties. His father, Gerald, passed away from a heart attack in 2012 due to a staph infection following several health issues. On a brighter note, his mother, Calla, has always been a strong pillar in his life, having been a former music teacher for the Wake County Public School System. Despite his complex and emotional journey, Wright continues to strive in his basketball career, embodying resilience and determination.
