Laura Gil Collado, born on April 24, 1992, is an accomplished Spanish basketball player with an unrivaled passion for sports. She came into professional basketball through the Segle XXI project, making waves in both her current Valencia Basket club and the Spain women’s national basketball team. Her journey weaves a story of success, from her early years in sports to her emerging prowess as a local and international champion.

At the tender age of 15, she began honing her skills in the Segle XXI project back in 2008, which propelled her to play in the Spanish second tier. This initiative was tailored to cultivate talented and young hopefuls from different youth teams, providing them with the necessary tools to excel within the sporting industry. For two years, from 2008 to 2010, Gil Collado learned, developed, and honed her skills in the basketball court, uniting her passion and determination with disciplined training.

In 2010, Collado’s dedication did not go unrecognized and she was signed by one of the top teams in the league, Perfumerías Avenida. This pivotal moment allowed her to take her newfound place in the ranks of elite athletes with zeal. The subsequent year, she assisted her team in clinching the 2011 EuroLeague title along with a victory in the Spanish League, establishing herself as a force to be reckoned with in the world of basketball.

After her stint with Perfumerías Avenida, Collado would go on to play for four different clubs over the next five years. During this period, she played an instrumental role in helping her team win the 2014 league. She eventually returned to her former club CB Avenida in 2016, where she contributed significantly to the team’s 2017 and 2018 league-cup victories.

Collado’s journey was not only limited to her club engagements. She took her talent and determination to the international scene. She started playing with Spain’s youth teams when she was 15, showing remarkable prowess by winning a total of nine medals from 2007 to 2012.

Her crowning moment came in 2013 when she debuted with the senior team at the age of 21, displaying her potential to the world. From that moment to 2021, she garnered 134 caps with an impressive 4.4 points per game, demonstrating her significance in the team.

Over her sports career, Collado has been part of club teams that have won numerous competitions including the 2011 EuroLeague, the 2021 EuroCup, and three Spanish Leagues competitions.
