Klay Thompson

Klay Thompson is an American professional basketball player who has been part of the National Basketball Association (NBA) since 2011. Born in 1990, he currently plays for the Golden State Warriors, with whom he won three NBA Championships in 2015, 2017 and 2018. He is also a five-time NBA All-Star.

Thompson’s father was Mychal Thompson, who once played for the Portland Trail Blazers and his mother Julie was a volleyball player at University of San Francisco. His parents encouraged him to pursue athletics from an early age and even home schooled him so that he could focus on his sports career without compromising on academics. Klay showed potential as both a football and basketball player but ultimately decided to pursue basketball due to its team nature which appealed to him more than any other sport did at that time.

Klay attended Santa Margarita Catholic High School where he blossomed into one of the top high school prospects in California alongside DeMar DeRozan who later became his teammate for Team USA during World Cup 2019 qualifiers as well as current Los Angeles Clippers forward Paul George . After high school, Thompson attended Washington State University where he continued to shine winning various awards like NABC Player of The Year Award and becoming an All Pac-10 First Team selection in 2011 amongst many others during his two year college stay before declaring himself eligible for 2010 NBA Draft; however despite being selected 11th overall by Golden State Warriors in January 2010 ,he chose not return until following season after signing rookie contracts worth $2 million per season over four years due to safer approach suggested byhis family management team led by agent Bill Duffy

After declaring himself eligible for 2010 draft ,Thompson joined Golden State Warriors prerparing himselffor upcoming rookie season where he posted first triple double against Cleveland Cavaliers with 18 points 15 rebounds 10 assists becoming only second Warriors rookie ever achieving this feat behind Chris Webber back in 1994 . It didn’t take long before Klay established himself as integral part of Warrior lineup earning reputationas deadly shooter both from mid range area or beyond arc shooting 46% from field throughout entire 2014–15 regular season which resulted into completionof historic 73 win regular season record surpassing 95–96 Bulls 72 wins & topping off with championship title following month thus beginning unprecedented runof success featuring 3 championships between 2015&2018 as well5 consecutive finals appearances ; all these feats led up multiple individual accolades such as 5 times All Star selection ,3 times All-NBA Third Team Selection & 2 Times NBA Champion among others
