Harrison Ingram's Biography

Born on November 27, 2002, Harrison Claiborne Ingram is a young and gifted professional basketball player hailing from America. Currently part of the San Antonio Spurs’ roster in the esteemed National Basketball Association (NBA), Ingram is also playing for the Spurs’ G League affiliate, the Austin Spurs, through a two-way contract. Equipped with a rich college basketball lineage, he has proven his mettle with both the Stanford Cardinal and the North Carolina Tar Heels.

Ingram’s journey began in Dallas, Texas, where he was educated at St. Mark’s School. He was an indomitable presence on his high school basketball team and was regarded as a five-star recruit. He concluded his junior year with an impressive record of 19.5 points, 10.9 rebounds, and seven assists per game, propelling his team to a Southwest Preparatory Conference title. Despite setbacks in his senior year due to multiple COVID-19 pauses, he executed an average of 22 points, 13 rebounds, and 8.4 assists per game in just seven games. The culmination of his high school career saw him earning the title of a McDonald’s All-American.

With such an illustrious high school career, Ingram quickly caught the attention of several Division I programs. Upon receiving offers from revered institutions like Baylor and Kansas while he was still a sophomore. After considering several offers, which included Purdue, North Carolina, Michigan, Harvard, and Howard, he committed himself to Stanford.

Upon entering Stanford, Ingram left a strong impression in his college debut by scoring 16 points and achieving seven rebounds in what turned out to be a victorious game against Tarleton State. Ingram continued to bring glory to Stanford by scoring 21 points in a triumph over USC, which came as an upset to many. His freshman year concluded with an average score of 10.5 points, 6.7 rebounds, and three assists per game, which earned him the title of Pac-12 Freshman of the Year.

In 2022, Ingram declared for the NBA draft while opting to maintain his college eligibility. He completed his sophomore season after playing all but one game, averaging 10.5 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. However, he decided to leave Stanford at the conclusion of the season, opening himself up to the transfer market.

Ingram’s transfer recruitment offered him myriad opportunities, but his interest boiled down to North Carolina and Kansas. Eventually, his official visit to Chapel Hill swung his decision in favor of the Tar Heels, which he committed to in late April 2023. Prior to the season commencement, Ingram was listed on the Julius Erving Award preseason watchlist.

Ingram began his journey with the Tar Heels by scoring 20 points and achieving six rebounds in a victory over Tennessee in the ACC-SEC Challenge. He exhibited commendable performances throughout the season, making double-doubles against numerous universities and earning the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Co-Player of the week honor. He completed the season being named the third-team All-ACC. His final appearance for the Tar Heels was against the University of Alabama in the Sweet 16, where he scored twelve points on 5-12 shooting from the field with 9 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals, and a block.

In the aftermath of the season, Ingram declared for the 2024 NBA draft and renounced his remaining college eligibility. He was selected as the 48th overall pick by the San Antonio Spurs, and signed a two-way contract with them in July 2024.

In addition to his collegiate endeavors, Ingram represented the United States at the 2021 FIBA Under-19 World Cup in Latvia. His performance of an average of 4.6 points and 4.1 rebounds per game significantly contributed to his team winning the gold medal.

Outside of the basketball court, Ingram is the son of Vera and Tyrous Ingram. His family is intrinsically linked to basketball, with his older brother, Will, being an alumni of Middlebury’s basketball team. His parents are successful entrepreneurs who own 17 McDonald’s franchises in Dallas-Fort Worth. Throughout his life and career, Ingram has demonstrated dedication, adaptability, and a commitment to the sport that continues to see him reaching new heights in the world of basketball.
