Tobias Myers's Biography
Tobias Kane Myers, born on August 5, 1998, is a highly recognized and well-accomplished American professional baseball pitcher, currently playing for the Milwaukee Brewers of Major League Baseball (MLB). His journey towards becoming an outstanding baseball pitcher is truly inspirational. It all began when he was first selected by Baltimore Orioles in the memorable sixth round of the 2016 MLB draft.
Myers’ passion and interest in baseball can be traced back to his days in Winter Haven High School located in Winter Haven, Florida. During his senior year in 2016, he had an exemplary record of 8–2 with an impressive 1.51 earned run average (ERA). He instantly became a sensation when he struck out 79 batters in more than 69 innings pitched.
After high school, Myers signed up to play college baseball at the respectable University of South Florida. However, his plans took a turn when he was once again selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the sixth round of the 2016 Major League Baseball draft. A decision that he never regretted, Myers signed with Baltimore for an astonishing amount of $225,000, giving up his commitment to the University of South Florida.
Myers made his professional debut with the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League Orioles. Even though it was just three starts, he managed to achieve a 4.70 ERA. The following year, he began playing with the Aberdeen IronBirds in the Low–A New York–Penn League.
In 2017, Myers was traded to the Tampa Bay Rays for Tim Beckham. He was assigned to the Hudson Valley Renegades in the Low–A New York–Penn League, finishing the season with a respectable 4–2 record with a 3.54 ERA and a 0.98 WHIP.
Myers was exceptional in his performance in 2018 with the Bowling Green Hot Rods of the Single–A Midwest League. Over 23 games, he obtained a 10–6 record with a 3.71 ERA.
In 2019, Myers displayed outstanding performance playing with the Charlotte Stone Crabs of the High–A Florida State League. He had an incredible 8–1 record with a 2.31 ERA over 18 games, striking out 59 over 84-plus innings. Unfortunately, Myers couldn’t play in 2020 due to the cancellation of the minor league season caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, Myers made a remarkable comeback in 2021. He was assigned to the Montgomery Biscuits of the Double-A South. After appearing in thirteen games, he had a 5–3 record with a 3.32 ERA and 81 strikeouts. His performance earned him a promotion to the Durham Bulls of the Triple-A East in July. The stint saw him achieve a 3–4 record with a 4.50 ERA.
On November 19, 2021, a significant move occurred as Myers was traded to the Cleveland Guardians for Junior Caminero. He was assigned to the Columbus Clippers of the Triple-A International League, where he started the 2022 season. Despite a lackluster record of 1–9 and a 6.00 ERA over 14 starts, Myers displayed dedication and resilience.
On July 7, 2022, Myers’ journey continued when Cleveland Guardians traded him to the San Francisco Giants. His tenure with the Giants was brief and involved two appearances for the Triple-A Sacramento River Cats.
He then transferred to the Chicago White Sox after being claimed off waivers. A struggling period followed, which resulted in his release in September. However, despite a challenging year, Myers showed his commitment when he signed a minor league contract with the Milwaukee Brewers in November 2022.
In 2023, Myers split the season playing with both the Double–A Biloxi Shuckers and Triple–A Nashville. Despite the changes, he ended the season impressively with a 10–5 record and 4.93 ERA, striking out an impressive 175 players.
In 2024, he achieved a personal milestone when he was promoted to the major leagues for the first time. This move came after he was selected to the 40–man roster. However, Myers was shortly optioned to Nashville, thus becoming a phantom ballplayer.
Myers’ persistence paid off when he got a chance to make his Major League debut on April 23 against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Despite surrendering a home run to Andrew McCutchen on his first pitch, his spirit remained unbroken, demonstrating the determination and tenacity inherent in his character. As Myers continues to perform in the Major League Baseball, his journey remains a testament to his passion, resilience, and talent for the game.
