Born on April 19, 2000, Salvatore Michael Frelick’s foundation and passion for baseball began to take shape in his childhood. Hailing from Lexington, Massachusetts, Frelick kickstarted his athletic prowess at Lexington High School. He was not just a member of the baseball team, but an all-around athlete who also demonstrated impressive skills in football and hockey.

While at Lexington High, he earned the distinctive honor of being the starting quarterback. He concluded his high school football career with a stellar senior year that saw him pass for 30 touchdowns, earning him the title of Gatorade State Player of the Year. Despite his football achievements, baseball was indisputably Frelick’s primary focus. He showed a profound commitment to his passion by accepting an offer to play college baseball at the renowned Boston College, where he was also tendered a football scholarship.

As a freshman at Boston College, Frelick did not disappoint. He posted impressive stats, batting .367 with four home runs, 32 RBIs, 30 runs scored, and 18 stolen bases. His exceptional performance led to him being named Second Team All-Atlantic and to the ACC All-Freshman Team. However, as a sophomore, his stride was interrupted by the burgeoning coronavirus pandemic, which limited his participation to only 15 games within which he scored 17 runs and seven stolen bases.

But the interruption did little to deter Frelick’s momentum. As a junior, he bounced back even stronger. He batted .359 with a .443 on-base percentage, six home runs, 27 RBIs, and 17 doubles. This stellar performance earned him the title of first team All-ACC and the ACC Defensive Player of the Year.

In the 2021 Major League Baseball draft, he was selected in the first round, with the 15th overall selection, by the Milwaukee Brewers. This was a testament to his unwavering commitment, resilience, and exceptional performance on the field. On July 20, 2021, he inked his deal with the Brewers, bagging a $4 million signing bonus.

His professional career kicked off with him playing for the Rookie-level Arizona Complex League Brewers. In 2022, Frelick commenced the season with Wisconsin, displaying a commendable performance that earned him another promotion, this time to the Double-A Biloxi Shuckers. After posting impressive results at the Shuckers, he moved to the Triple-A Nashville Sounds.

The significance of the year 2023 loomed large for Frelick. His season began in Nashville but was interrupted by a thumb sprain, necessitating surgery to repair the ulnar collateral ligament in his left thumb. However, this was a minor setback and after an approximately 2-month hiatus, he returned to the field.

By July 22, 2023, Frelick was skyrocketed to the major leagues when he was selected to the 40-man roster. His major league debut was a memorable one, where he proved instrumental in leading the Brewers past the Atlanta Braves. He consistently performed well, even hitting his first career homer in a game against the Cincinnati Reds starter Graham Ashcraft.

Off the field, Frelick exercises his creative muscles as an amateur poet, participating in readings with other former MLB players and poets. His versatility extends to his representation of the Italy national baseball team at the 2023 World Baseball Classic.
