Ryan Feltner

Ryan Donald Feltner is an accomplished professional baseball player who was born on September 2, 1996, in the United States of America. He is renowned as a professional pitcher for the Colorado Rockies, a team in Major League Baseball (MLB). Feltner first debuted in the MLB in the year 2021, kicking off an eventful professional sports career.

His journey is rooted in Walsh Jesuit High School, based in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. He excelled during this time, proving his worth as a senior in the year 2015 when he was honored as the Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year for Ohio. This accolade was followed by being named The Plain Dealer Baseball Pitcher of the Year.

Following high school, Feltner found himself courted by the Toronto Blue Jays, who selected him in the 25th round of the 2015 Major League Baseball draft. Despite this initial recognition, Feltner declined to sign with the Blue Jays, instead cultivating his skills at a college level by playing baseball at Ohio State University.

In 2016, Feltner demonstrated his commitment to the sport outside the academic year, playing collegiate summer baseball with the Brewster Whitecaps. He followed suit in the next year, participating in the Cape Cod Baseball League with the Bourne Braves, where he was named a league all-star, reflecting his remarkable prowess on the field.

After showcasing his skill at Ohio State, Feltner got a career-altering opportunity as he was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the fourth round of the 2018 MLB draft. He made his professional debut with the Grand Junction Rockies and spent the year 2019 honing his craft with the Asheville Tourists.

However, with 2020 came unprecedented challenges as the minor league season was canceled due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Consequently, Feltner was unable to participate in any games that year. Yet, he started the 2021 season afresh with the Spokane Indians, later earning a promotion to the Hartford Yard Goats.

In a significant career milestone, Feltner was selected to the 40-man roster on September 5, 2021, and subsequently promoted to the major leagues. It was on this fateful day that he made his MLB debut, where he took on the Atlanta Braves. Despite his undeniable talent, Feltner faced a challenging initiation into the major leagues, allowing 6 earned runs, including a game-winning solo home run in a 9-2 loss.

In the following years, Feltner endured a concerning incident while playing against the Philadelphia Phillies on May 13, 2023. During the match, Feltner was hit in the head by a forceful 92.7-mph line drive, causing a skull fracture and concussion. The severity of his injuries led to him being placed on the 60-day injured list on May 29. However, showcasing his resilience, Feltner made a triumphant return to the field, being reactivated from the injured list on the 19th of September.
