David Nathaniel Lowe Jr., fondly known in the Major League Baseball (MLB) arena as Nathaniel Lowe, was born on July 7, 1995. Known for his prowess on the baseball pitch, he currently serves as a professional first baseman for the Texas Rangers, an MLB team. Before his tenure with the Rangers, Lowe had also exhibited his unique skills playing for the Tampa Bay Rays, another MLB team.

Growing up in Marietta, Georgia, Lowe attended Pope High School, where he was recognized for more than just his skill in baseball. Here, his musical talent was nurtured through his active participation in orchestra and jazz bands. Working with the double bass instrument, Lowe showed a remarkable versatility in his endeavors.

Malevolently striking a balance between his affinity for music and love for baseball, Lowe later got enrolled at Mercer University. Here, he played college baseball for the Mercer Bears in 2014, reflecting his never-ending enthusiasm for the sport. Seeking to evolve his capabilities further, Lowe transferred to St. Johns River State College for the 2015 season. To solidify his baseball journey, he moved on to Mississippi State University in 2016. Here, he played for the Mississippi State Bulldogs, again bolstering his presence in the world of this widely loved sport.

In his time at Mississippi State University, Lowe was named a Second Team All-American by Louisville Slugger in 2016, proving his consistency and undeterred performance. His dedication and hard work in the baseball field did not go unnoticed as he was selected by the Rays in the 13th round of the 2016 MLB draft. Being the 390th overall selection, he signed off his university life on a high note and made his grand entry into professional baseball.

His debut came with the Hudson Valley Renegades of the Class A Short Season New York-Penn League. Lowe made an impact, batting at an average of .300 and showcasing an impressive record of four home runs and 40 RBIs in 67 games. He then played for the Bowling Green Hot Rods and the Charlotte Stone Crabs subsequently in the 2017 season.

2018 saw Lowe begin his season with Charlotte. This was followed by a deserving promotion and subsequent representation of the Rays in the 2018 All-Star Futures Game. Lowe was, later in August, promoted to the Durham Bulls. This year he was also named to the 2018 MLB Pipeline team of the year, a recognition resulting from his impressive statistics.

2019 marked Lowe’s promotion to the major leagues. His stints included his first-ever major league home run against the New York Yankees and his first multi-home run game. Lowe’s performance in the 2020 season was admissible, with his appearance in 21 games being noted.

Later in December 2020, Lowe was traded to the Texas Rangers in exchange for three noteworthy players. In his tenure with the Rangers in 2021, Lowe hit 18 home runs and registered 72 RBIs making a strong contribution to the team.

Lowe continued to create records becoming the first major leaguer to strike out in two immaculate innings in a game against the Houston Astros in 2022. He then wrapped up the 2022 season with the American League Silver Slugger Award, further establishing his position in MLB.

By 2023, Lowe had not only signed a one-year $4.05 million contract with the Rangers, but also became a key player in taking his team to a World Series victory that year. Winning the American League Gold Glove Award for first base in 2023 marked yet another milestone in his career.

Lowe shares his love for baseball with his brother, Josh Lowe, who plays for the Rays. Their father, David, who was also a baseball enthusiast, chose a career in the U.S. Naval Academy over being drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the 1986 MLB Draft.
