Maikel Garcia's Biography

Maikel Jose García is an accomplished Venezuelan professional baseball player within Major League Baseball (MLB). Born on March 3, 2000, he currently serves as an infielder for the reputable Kansas City Royals, having kick-started his exhilarating MLB career in 2022.

García’s journey into professional baseball commenced on July 27, 2016. He was signed by the Kansas City Royals as an international free agent, quite the achievement for the young player. His professional debut happened with the Dominican Summer League Royals, where his performance was commendable with a hitting score of .223/.277/.242, no home runs, 7 RBI, and a commendable 9 stolen bases.

The year 2018 marked a significant year as García demonstrated a remarkable performance. He split his season between the DSL Royals and the rookie-level Arizona League Royals. He amassed a cumulative .222/.311/.260 with no home runs, 11 RBI, and an impressive 20 stolen bases, all achieved in a mere 52 games.

García’s trajectory in the following year included participation with the Idaho Falls Chukars and Burlington Royals, both rookie-level teams. He batted an exceptional .284/.349/.367, with a single home run, 35 RBI, and 19 stolen bases in a total of 57 games. Unfortunately, he missed the chance to showcase his skills in 2020 due to the cancellation of the minor league season in the light of the global COVID-19 pandemic.

The following year, however, García returned to the field. Garcia had an incredible split season in 2021 between the Single-A Columbia Fireflies and the High-A Quad Cities River Bandits. He achieved a slashing score of .291/.380/.405 complete with 4 home runs, 50 RBI, and a substantial 35 stolen bases. His successful season led to the Royals incorporating him into their 40-man roster post the 2021 season, a boast-worthy achievement.

The resolute García started the 2022 season with the Double-A Northwest Arkansas Naturals. On July 14, he earned his first major leagues promotion and was recalled.
