Kyle Stowers

Kyle Jacob Stowers was born on January 2, 1998. As an American professional baseball player, he has made a name for himself as an outfielder in the Major League Baseball (MLB). He currently plays for the Miami Marlins, having previously played for the Baltimore Orioles.

Stowers grew up in El Cajon, California, and attended Christian High School. His talent for baseball was evident early on, and he went on to hone his skills at Stanford University. As part of the Stanford Cardinal team, he made a significant contribution to collegiate baseball.

Stowers’ abilities did not go unnoticed. In the summer of 2018, he played collegiate baseball with the Falmouth Commodores in the Cape Cod Baseball League. His exceptional performance led to him being named an all-star for the league. In his junior year in 2019, he played 55 games and batted .303 with nine home runs and 39 RBIs.

His impressive university stats led to Stowers being drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the second round of the 2019 Major League Baseball draft. He made his professional debut with the Low–A Aberdeen IronBirds, but his career was briefly stalled in 2020 when the minor league season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2021, Stowers started with Aberdeen before being promoted to the Double–A Bowie Baysox. He was later further promoted to the Triple–A Norfolk Tides. Despite the challenges presented by the pandemic, Stowers excelled in his performance. Over 124 games between the three teams, his score was impressive: a slash line of .278/.383/.514, 27 home runs and 85 RBI.

Stowers made his MLB debut in a game against the Toronto Blue Jays at the Rogers Centre on June 13, 2022. He began as the starting left fielder batting eighth, with his only hit in three at bats being an opposite-field, seventh-inning double that scored Adley Rutschman with the Orioles’ sole run.

His stellar performance ensured his place on the team’s 40-man roster when Brett Phillip’s contract was selected from the Tides on August 19. He played his first-ever MLB home run during a game against the Chicago White Sox at Camden Yards on August 25. His shot, sent to the bleachers in center field, landed him his first home run and helped secure the Orioles’ victory over the White Sox.

In 2023, however, Stowers only played 14 games with the Orioles due to a troublesome shoulder inflammation that took two months from the season to recover. The following year, he began in the Triple-A Norfolk, even after a string performance in spring training. But his consistent performance caused him to surpass Christian Walker for most career home runs in Orioles minor-league affiliate history.

Throughout his tenure with the Baltimore Orioles, Stowers recorded a batting average of .306/.297/.500 with one home run and nine RBIs in 19 games. However, on July 30, 2024, he was traded to the Miami Marlins alongside Connor Norby, paving the way for what promises to be an exciting new chapter in his professional baseball career.
