Jose Iglesias is a professional Major League Baseball (MLB) player famous for his prowess as a shortstop. Born January 5, 1990, in Havana, Cuba, Iglesias is renowned for his exceptional fielding skills, defense tactics, and jaw-dropping hand-eye coordination. Iglesias was introduced to baseball at a young age, with his father, Candelario, also a baseball player. Jose started his professional career in 2009 with a four-year contract with the Boston Red Sox after defecting from Cuba in the same year during a tournament in Canada. Having honed his skills and demonstrated his ability in the Cuba National Series, a Cuban professional league, Iglesias made his MLB debut with the Boston Red Sox on May 8, 2011. He struggled with a quad injury throughout the 2020 season but still managed to put up a career-best .373 batting average in 39 games before being traded to the Los Angeles Angels in December 2020. In his 2021 season, he’s currently playing as the starting shortstop for the Angels, continually displaying his defensive prowess and switch-hitting abilities.
